Make Up Store – Microshadow in Matte White

Hey guys,

I wish you all a Happy Halloween, in Malta we don’t actually celebrate it like most foreign countries but it is slowly being part of our yearly calender too.  There are a few children which dress up and trick or treat and there are many adults which dress up go to Halloween parties  but that is pretty much it. I think it’s a fun tradition and we should incorporate it in our Mediterranean society. Today unfortunately I don’t have another Halloween look for you guys but I do have a great review for a pretty good product.

W1

On my last visit to the Make-up store, I got quite a couple of products from there and the one I will review today is the Michroshadow in matte White. I already have another Michroshadow in a shimmery white colour, which I love and have been using for a lot of my make up looks. These shadows retail for about €13, which is quite pricey for a single eye-shadow but they are worth every penny.

W2

Pros:

  • Very pigmented, which you can view clearly as I swatched this shadow.
  • The packaging is very sleek, it comes with thick black plastic and a clear lid on top. I love how you can remove the lid in various ways, you can either remove it completely or pulling it upwards and it can be clipped on back easily.
  • It has a good longevity, it stay on the lids for a good amount of time, without a primer it will probably last up to 4hrs but with a good primer it will last up-to 8hrs.
  • Easy to apply and blend
  • It has a generous amount of product, I have been using the other microshadow for more than 9 months and I haven’t seen the end of it yet, and I use it a lot.

W3

Cons:

  •  To be honest I don’t have a particular con for this shadow, just that try to be careful not to break the plastic lid. I broke my other eye-shadow plastic lid and I cannot carry the shadow on it’s own unfortunately.
  • The price of this shadow can be seen as expensive for some but it is worth every penny as it will last you for a long time.

Will I ever buy this product again? Definitely, If I will ever run out of this colour I will repurchase for sure, and will  buy more in various colours.

Do I recommend it? I recommend it to anyone, they are really great and worth every penny

Cleopatra – Halloween Make-Up Look

Hello guys,

So I thought another look for you guys for this Halloween, this is way simpler than the previous one. This was created for those that aren’t used to experiment a lot with make-up, but still want to try something new for this Halloween. I chose to do the beautiful ancient ruler Cleopatra, and the look is inspired by the way she is portrayed in various movies. The most important aspect of this look is the eye-liner, if the eyeliner is done well your look is complete. I also used a wig because my bands have gotten longer, but if you have bangs, all you need is a few jewelry pieces on your head and you’ve transformed yourself into Cleopatra.

c3

Eyes

Instructions:

  • I started with the usual base primer and used a shimmery white eye-shadow with a yellow undertone under the brows.
  • Then I used a gold colour and applied it all over the lid even some on the crease, following with a blue eye-shadow on the outer lid and a little bit on the crease.
  • Finally I did a double eye-liner, which is an eye liner both at the top and under of the eyes, and some mascara to finalize the look.

c4

Products:

  • Two faced primer
  • Make up store Michroshadow Satin
  • Elf 100 marble pelette
  • Barry M eyeliner
  • Collection Mascara

Face

  • As for the cheeks I used the elf bronzer to contour and Marber peach colour on the cheeks

Lips

  • I kept is simple light and simple and used the Pupa glossy lips- lip gloss

Pretty Devil – Halloween Make-up Look

Hello guys,

As you all know Halloween is round the corner, which is why I did this make-up look just for you guys. I wanted to do an artistic version of the pretty devil, which is a bit different from what we usually see on Halloween. It was really fun for me doing this look, I love using my artistic skills to transform myself into different characters.

5

This look may not be easy for some to do, however you can take some of the aspects of my look and transform them into something else, but quite similar. I will try to explain in brief the process and show you how it was done.

7

Eyes
Instructions:

  • It started this look by using a primer all over the eyelid and even on my brows, then I applied a little bit of a shimmery shadow under the brows.
  • Then I applied a red eye-shadow all over the lid and outwards and topped on some burgundy shimmery colour.
  • I used the same technique under the eyes, and onto the cheek bone and lined it all out with a black eyeliner and finally layers of mascara.
  • I do suggest fake eyelashes for this look it will make it even more dramatic, but if you don’t like having fake lashes, mascara should be more than enough

Products:

  • Urban Decay Potion Primer Eden
  • Make up store Michroshadow in Satin – white shimmer
  • Elf 100 palette – red colour
  • Fraulein 38 – Nude Palette – Shimmery Burgundy Colour and Black
  • Barry My Eliner
  • Collection big fake ultimate Mascara

Cheeks
I applied the Primak- Sunkissed bronzer to contour my face and MAC breeze on top of it, to give it that reddish look.

3
Lips
MAC Ruby Wood and Black eye-shadow to contour the lips.

I hope you love this look as much as I loved doing it. I do wish you a happy rest of the week and keep posted, as I have more reviews and make-up look coming up. Would love to read your comments down below, and feel free to like and share this make-up look

Event : Phillip Kingsley London Launch in Malta

This week I was invited to this Exclusive Launch of the Phillip Kingley London hair care products. Being that they haven’t been selling in Malta before now, I didn’t know much about this brand, but I did hear about it on various Magazines and beauty blogs. It is widely known in the UK and in America, not only by hairdressers but even by celebrities like Kate Winslet, John Travolta, Lucy Liu and and much more.

1

We had a quick presentation of the products for which we were explained the study being these products and what are the products for. It was really interesting to see how much study there is behind each product. Their particular aim is not only to have healthy hair but also to have a healthy scalp. Even-though the products are more targeted to hairstylist to use in their Salon but I think they can be great for anyone at home that want to pamper their hair with some quality product.

2

Their products have won great awards by well know magazines like , Harper’s Bazaaar, GQ, and In style magazine for being the best hair treatments out there. I have to admit their Elastisizer has truly caught my eye, as it is highly reviewed.

After the presentation, she demonstrated how the products should be applied and even how to massage the clients during the treatment.  FWI All of us beauty bloggers were really jealous of the model, as we definitely wanted a massage ourselves :D. Then we were given some nice sample of the Phillip Kingley’s shampoo and conditioner, which I might add, they smell lovely.

3

Then we ended the event with some nibbles and a drink with my other fellow bloggers. I truly enjoyed the event and it is truly nice to see new brands make it to our lovely small Island.

P.S At moment the Phillip Kingley products aren’t available in Malta yet as they are waiting on stock, however once they arrive you will be the first to know 🙂 Keep posted as I have some great events coming up and Halloween make up looks.

Anatomicals – Headache Relief Balm

Hello there the weekend is here :),

Today I want to talk about this awesome product called Headache Relief Balm by Anatomicals. I have to warn you that you might be prepared to make a purchase after reading this review, because you are going to want it. I think we all have headaches at some point in time, if it’s after a long day at work or because of school stress, they are bound to happen. Little did I know that there is a simple, cheap cure for them, which is this balm by Anatomicals.

h1

Pros:

  • Funny and quirky packaging and it constantly put a smile on my face.
  • It does relieve the pain. It contains natural ingredients such as peppermint oil and is a clear balm. When I felt a headache coming on, I quickly popped a little amount of product onto each temple and hoped for the best. After roughly a minute I began to feel a very cooling sensation despite putting a very small amount of the balm on.
  • It’s not going to do a miracle and take all the pain away but it will definitely make you feel a lot better.
  • I also hear that the oily residue is great for the skin, even for after sun burns
  • It also retails for the cheap amount of €4.99, and it will last you for a good amount of time.

h2

Cons:

  • Even-though it’s isn’t much of a con, the balm has an oily resedue, which can leave a bit of an oily stain but being that it helps with the pain, I wouldn’t bother that much. Being that my forehead can be a bit oily, I prefer to remove it after the soothing feeling is over. But if you have a dry skin I would leave it, as it has a nice moisturizing texture and smell.

h3

Will I ever buy this product again? I think I will,

Do I recommend it? I do highly recommend it, so go ahead and buy it 🙂 www.anatomicals.com.mt and check their facebook page here. You can find it also in various pharmacies around Malta too.

Maybelline- Eye Studio Lasting Drama – Gel Eyliner

Hello there,

This is my first review on my new website :), which is pretty exciting. I do hope you like new layout and logo, I designed it to be very simple, and accessible. Let me know what you think below.

1

This today I will review the Maybelline- Eye studio lastin Drama- Gel eyeliner (yes the name is long), I have been using this eyeliner for a long time and have found it to be quite a good gel eyeliner and the best I had tried from most drugstore brands. The texture of it is in between that of a pencil and that of a liquid liner. It comes with a nice brush which unfortunately I lost for some reason, so I couldn’t show it to you guys. It retails for approximately €9 which is a good price for a gel liner and you get a good amount of product which will last you for a long time.

2

Pros:

  • It has a nice dark black colour, just the way I like them
  • The packaging is very nice and quite sturdy,  however it would be better if the brush incorporated with the tube, so I you don’t get to lose it
  • The brush is good especially for a winged eyeliner but not suitable for precise thin lines
  • It last on my lids for a whole day. When I used to wear it for work,  it would still be visible once I got home, 9hrslater.

Cons:

  • The most annoying thing for me was that I have to clean the brush after each application, because the buildup can cause the liner to look very sloppy.
  • If you have oily lids it might smudge a little bit after a long day or wear but on me it worked just fine.
  • Make sure that if you use it, use it repetitively, don’t forget about it like I did cause it dried out a bit. However I still use it for my eye-brows.

3

Will I ever buy this product again? Maybe, it’s not a bad eyeliner but not my favorite either. I like that it stays on for a long time but having to clean the brush all the time after using can be annoying.

Do I recommend it? I recommend this to girls who aren’t a fan of pencil or liquid liners.

NYX – Matte Lipstick – Indie Flick

Hey guys,

Since NYX opened in Malta, I have been trying quite a couple of products from this brand and another product I’ve been loving is their Matte lipsticks. One of them in particular is this lovely coral lipstick called Indie Flick, my lipstick collection was craving for a nice orange-red colour. They are also  ridiculously affordable which If i’m not mistaken retail for only €9, and have a really lovely selection of shades to choose from.

l2

It has a lovely texture and pigmentation, not too dry and not too creamy which is quite uncommon for a matte lipstick and it doesn’t dry out my lips either. This lipstick stays on for a long time and doesn’t smudge easily. Usually with matte lipsticks one must be careful and watch their lips throughout the day so they don’t over-dry, crease, feather, smudge, etc. But with this lipstick, I don’t quite find myself running into those problems.

L1

My only complaint about the lipstick itself, is that after about seven or so hours it does tend to flake just a bit and dry out your lips if you don’t apply a balm at least a couple of times during wear. Then again, that could be expected with a lot of matte lipsticks. I would recommend moisturizing your lips prior to application, following up with a good lip liner, then finally applying the lipstick with a brush, about three to five coats, blotting in between save for the last coat. This has been my process for the longest time, and my lipstick stays like you wouldn’t believe.

The other thing that bothered me was the packaging. It looks good, but it can be twisted while closed, which could make the lipstick smear on the inside of the cap (basically what actually happened to me). But I guess you just have to be careful.

Will I ever buy this product again? I will definitely buy this lipstick again, and if not in the same colour in some other gorgeous colour from the matte range.

Do I recommend it? I do highly recommend it, just be careful not to twist it while closed, like I did. Go to the NYX store at Sliema right now 🙂

Arrow – Felicity Smoak – Inspired Make-up look

Hello guys :),

If you know me by now, you would know I am quite a tv-show obsessed person. I love watching TV-shows and I have been loving this new show called Arrow. The make-up look I am inspired from is that of Felicity Smoak which is the pretty computer geek that helps the vigilante to protect the city. She is a mixture of beauty and intelligence and I love her simple yet striking make-up looks she has on the show. The eyes have a very natural eye make-up and some vibrant, red, pink or orange lipstick.

A1

This make-up look is very easy to do, so I will explain quickly how to do it and then I will list down the products used.

A3

Eyes

Instructions:

The eyes I kept them very natural, all I used was a nice matte white shadow for under the brows and the inner corner of the lid. A soft pink colour on the middle of the lid and blended it to out to the crease with a warm brown colour. I finished the eye look with a winged eyeliner and some mascara. (If you want something simpler on the eyes, just apply a thinner eyeliner)

Urban Decay Eden primer | Make-up store – matte white michroshadow | Fraulein 38 – nude palette | NYX Curve eyeliner | Benefit- the’re real Mascara

Cheeks

Products:

Sunkissed Primark Bronzer | MAC Dollymix

I hope you like this look as much as I did, I wore this for drinks out with friends and I find it to be very wearable for any occasion. This look is all about the lips, as the lips are the main focus of this look. So find that lipstick you’ve been meaning to try on for a while and try this look 🙂

Revlon- Grow Luscious Plumping Mascara

Hey guys,

Before I start with my next review, you will notice a slight change in the way I will review products further on. I will be adding rating stars at the end of the review, and ask two main questions, if I will ever buy the product again? and if I do recommend it for you guys? This will give you an overall idea of what I think about the products. 🙂

2

Today I will review the mascara which I have been using for about a month now. I bought the Grow luscious plumping by Revlon at a drug store and it retails for about €11 if i’m not mistaken, which is a good price for a drugstore brand. To be honest I am not really a big fan of this mascara however it’s not the worst either, it does give volume but it doesn’t lengthen my lashes. I do feel it makes lashes slightly heavy due to its dry formula, and because of it, the natural curl of the lashes is somewhat lost. So instead of the lashes to go upwards like they should they seem to remain at the same place.

3

1

I am using this mascara for everyday make-up, because it is quite inexpensive and it’s not so bad, but for the weekend I do prefer using other mascaras. I do like the brush, as it starts quite thick which I like but it get thinner at the end. The idea behind it, is probably created to cover those small lashes at the inner corner of our eyes, which we rarely are able to apply mascara on.

Will I ever buy this mascara again? Probably not because I was expecting more volume and length, and I didn’t get it.

Do I recommend it? Maybe, it is inexpensive after all and not so bad, it just didn’t fulfill my expectations.

Anatomicals – Exclusive Pre-Launch in Malta

Listen up men and women, Anatomicals are available in Malta :).If you aren’t familiar with this brand, you are about to be. I honestly wasn’t familiar with them until last month but since I saw these products, I couldn’t wait to try them out. Anatomicals consist of a range of skin care products from soaps to facial creams for men and women. What struck me the most is their colorful packaging, and wicked sense of humor. Each product has a funny name and a tag-line which will definitely put a smile on your face.

Anatomicals

You can’t help but notice, that these products sell for a very cheap price. I haven’t seen any skin care products this cheap anywhere. They currently sell at Asos, Tesco and various drugstores in the UK and are also massive hit in Germany. But the best thing is, that now they are available to everyone in Malta and even internationally thanks to a new website called Anatomicals which you can check out here. This website is run by a friend of mine which also has another successful website with products for Men, called Men in Malta. So do check them out.

MeninMalta

I always make sure to research about every products brands, and from what I read people love these products because they are good and inexpensive. The words “Cheap” and “Good”, ring happy bells to us beauty addicts. The awesome thing is I get to try these products first hand :), and once I have truly tested them out, I will give you a more detailed review. All I can say for now is they smell very nice, and I can’t wait to pamper myself with these products. I think they are also a great Idea to give as a birthday present, or maybe stock up for Christmas gifts.

2

I had a chat with the founder of Anatomicals website in Malta and got to know more about this cool brand. Check them out:

How where you introduced to the brand?

Well it was by chance really I came across their products while I was doing some research online for my other store Men in Malta. Their style of branding caught my eye immediately.  And I could not resist, the sometimes ‘rude’ wording on the backside of the product. I first bought some of their products as testers and I was impressed even more when they arrived. You might as well say it was love at first sight. Despite the fact that they were inexpensive they still delivered to my standards. From there onwards I decided to share these great products with all the cool people in Malta.

What drove you, to start selling them in Malta?

Apart from what I mentioned before, the main reason was that there are so many boring and unappealing products out there, that these are a breath of fresh Air in such a saturated market.  What makes these products unique from the other products in the market is that they are targeted to those that have a cool and wild attitude. So be part of our WILD team one and join our facebook page 🙂

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=feOwagkXuek&feature=youtu.be]

What product do you use a lot?

As a good honorable man that I am, I generally keep a very moderate grooming lifestyle. This consists of a face wash routine, a good scrubbing every 3-4 days and some very basic use of oil control moisturizer. Since these last 9 months I can say that i have constantly been using the memorable daily face wash which is a unisex kind. I made vast use of the man range funnily named manatomicals. In fact I have become quite addicted to their body wash products for men. So good and manly. Another main product was the headache balm which is surely my best friend on bad days. It reduces my ‘throbbing headaches’ to bits which is also great also for hangovers. I am also addicted to the peachy shampoo and most of the hand washes available.

What is the product that you would suggest women to buy?

Well limiting this to one is impossible.. as yet I have not received a negative remark from any woman as they represent a perfect price vs more than average quality for such product. I could easily recommend all the great lip balms and the hottle tottie range.

What is the product you would suggest men to buy?

If you’re a guy like me than I would highly recommend all of the manatomicals range.

So what are you waiting for, go and check these product out on www.anatomicals.com.mt. If you are spending over €20 you get free delivery in Malta and Gozo, so what are you waiting for? 😛

Have you tried any of their products yet ? If so would love to read your comments down below 🙂
