Elemis – Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm – Review

Hello my dear followers,

A few months back I attended the Elemis launch here in Malta and I was given a few samples to test out, including the Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm. At first I was thinking of doing one post on all the products, but there is so much to say on each product that i would be boring you out.

If you are not familiar with Elemis, than you will be now. This Uk brand specializes in creating high-end skincare products for mature women, which combine the best of nature and science combined.

The Elemis Pro-collaged cleansing balm has an oil base creamy texture with a lavender, chamomile and a touch of mint aroma. It is used to dissolve make up and any dirt and oil you might have from your skin. Known for having a blend of precious starflower, elderberrry, optimega oils, and anti-ageing Padina pavonica which firms the skin but also smooths and hydrate your skin.  All of the ingredients are natural oils which are grown in the UK, and it is suitable for all skin types.

After trying this balm for a couple of times, I have to admit that it is an exceptional product. It is like having a facial in a jar. Once you open the jar you are greeted with a beautiful aroma, that is so relaxing and made me feel like I’m at the Spa. The cool thing about this product is that you can use it in 2 ways, you can smooth it over the face and neck and gently massage it into the skin and remove with a worm cleansing cloth, or (my favorite) leave it for 10 minutes as a relaxing mask.

Once I remove the balm, my skin is soft and glowing, and not one bit oily. The only downer for some women, it that it  costs 48 euros, but I have to say that it is worth every single penny. You can feel the difference from drugstore skincare products to the Elemis brand, it is really rich in quality.

I highly recommend this product, and if money permits I might purchase the actual big jar in the future.

What do you guys think? have you tried this product or any of Elemis range? feel free to comment down below. Do not forget to subscribe and show some love on my Facebook page or Instagram

My Latvian Beauty Haul <3

Hello dear readers,

I hope you liked my previous post, where I mentioned the best places to shop should you visit Latvia or even the Baltic region. Since most shops are available in all of the Baltic countries, and not only in Latvia. I would suggest you read the post before you keep reading this one, so you get a sense of what the shops are about. But if you are looking to see some goodies keep on scowling down.

So let’s starts amd show you all of the products I bought from all of these Latvian shops. 😀

Drogas

Since Drogas have all the products you need, for hair, face and body at a cheap price, I did buy quite a lot of stuff. Here’s the list below:

  • 5 Lipstick shades from Fennel a cosmetic company from Thailand. They were discounted to 1 to 2 approx euros each.
  • Wellness & Beauty by Rossmann – Tea Extract and Olive – body oil. A Polish company which provide this range of body oils and much more.
  • Natura Siberica – Loves Latvija – Body scrub. It is a Russian Organic brand based in Siberia, which have a variety of skin and body care collections and one is dedicated to it’s neighbour of Latvia.
  • Amie Naturally kind- Skin care- Morning Clear Purifying Facial wash – Got it at discount for approx 3 euros 😀
  • L’Oreal Evital – Heat protector on coloured hair – Since the one I currently use by Tresemme is running out, I needed a replacement.
  • Body Butter and Body Scrub by Superdrug – These were on offer for just 1.30euros each, and they are just as good as the body butter from the Body shop.
  • L’Oreal Nutri Gold Face Oil and Moisturizer – Since my face was getting pretty dry I thought I should try these out.
  • L’Oreal Mascara and SkinPerfection Micellar Water- to clean my face from all the make-up I put on.
  • Golden Rose – Long-stay Matte Foundation… can’t wait to test it out 😀
  • Beauty FormulaCharcoal Clay Mask-I heard pretty good things about the mask and they were not lying. Review coming up.

Stenders

From this awesome shop I got the shower gel and creamy body scrub in cranberry. I also got a pieces of soap from their enormous collection, forgot the name but I simple love the smell. It also left the lovely aroma on all of my clothes, since it was in my luggage. Finally I was given a cute travel set to try their shampoo and conditioner, by my lovely Latvian friend. Even if im dieing to try them out, I want to wait a bit, since they contain such nice memeories.

Dzintars

From the Latvian skin care range of Dzintars I only got their lipbalms, the green one is the original while the orange one is a new range. It is all written in latvian so cannot say what is the difference between them. But I like the most the orange one since it has a nice fruity smell.

Rituals

The Dutch brand of Rituals recently launched the collection called the Ritual of Sakura, from which I got the body mist, body lotions and shower gel. The cool thing about the shower gel is that it comes out as foam, and you don’t need a large amount since its spreads.  Can’t wait to pamper myself with them.

Street Markets

In most cities of Latvia you will find street markets, especially in Christmas time. One day I went to Jurmala, a lovely city next to the Beach. There you can find shops and also cute street markets, where you can find anything from scarfs, mittens to local home-made soaps (as the ones you see in the photo). Even in the capital of Riga you can find pretty interesting stuff in these wooden housed markets. Next to the soaps (in the image above) you will see an odd but pretty  ring which was given to me as a present. The ring contains a nice big Amber stone, since Amber is very popular in those areas. Finally I got the Latvian scarf which is shown on the top of every picture. The pattern is pretty symbolic with Latvia and they are very much in fashion right now.

Duty Free

Last but not least, I got this lovely perfume by Moschino with some other yummy stuff at the Duty free. It was a real pity that I didn’t have more time in my hands, when I left Riga. Since there are some nice shops to see and at very decent prices. I simple love how you can find a variety of local brands but also Polish, Lithuanian, German and Russian brands. Pretty cool.

Well that is all for my pretty big Haul from my Holiday in Riga, I did stock up on everyday stuff that will last me for half if not the whole year. So thank you Riga for being so affordable and filled with beautiful things, I will definitely visit again.

I hope you like my post :D, please show some love by following my blog and liking my Facebook page

Beauty Brands in Latvia (Baltic Region)

Hello dear readers,

Welcome to my page once again and I would like to wish you all a lovely New Year :).

Like every year 2016 had it’s many ups and downs. Yet I am thankful for the new friends it brought me, new clients and great opportunities. I also conquered one of my fears of flying on my own, which I’ve done twice in a year. First to the lovely City of Amsterdam, and then recently to what I feels like my second home, in Riga, Latvia.

Riga is a beautiful city filled with culture, good food and lovely people. Latvians may not be as welcoming as Maltese can be. Yet once they get to know you, they will treat like their own.

Intentionally I was going to do a post about beauty brands in the Netherlands, but I didn’t get to discover any particular new brands while there. Since I was more interested in the art and history it provided, than looking for beauty products. Yet in Latvia there is quite a vast range of stores, both foreign and local, which have created a name for themselves in Latvia and even in the Baltic region.

So here is a list of  beauty shops and brands to looks for in this beautiful country:

Drogas

Drogas is by far my favourite chain of beauty shops in Latvia. I was lucky enough to find one in every corner in Riga, since their shops are available throughout Latvia and Lithuania. They have anything you need from toiletries, hair products, skin care and of course Make-up.

One important think I forgot to mention, is that prices are ridiculously CHEAP compared to the Maltese market.  You can find from the cheapest make-up like Essence and Catrice, but also the most famous drugstore brands like L’Oreal, Max factor and Maybeline to Art Deco and Golden Rose.

It is really heaven for beauty lovers, and since it was during the holiday season many things were discounted even more. The only downer is that there are some products which are in German, Russian or Latvian. But you can always find a nice soul to translate everything for you. (Thank you my latvian good souls 😛 )

Dzintars

Dzintars is a Local beauty shop which specialise in perfumery, skin care and Biocosmetic. They are known for using natural bio-active substances which help and protect the skin. Not only for skin care but also in the their make-up. It was a pity I didn’t get much time to try and test their products, but if I get to go again I will definitely check it out.

Stenders

Stenders has become one of my favourite shop for showering, bathing and body care. It has captured me with the enchanting aroma as I walked into the shop and has left me craving for more. This is another local brand that has opened out it wings and has now 220 shops in 27 countries.

It is a like a mixture of Lush and the Body shop, minus the make-up. They also have a variety of different delicious smelly soaps, which they can cut from just for you.The prices are very reasonable considering the quality of these soaps and shower gels, so do check them out. They also do deliveries in most countries including Malta 😀

Rituals

Talking about the Netherlands (in the start of my post), Rituals is a dutch brand, very similar to Stenders since is focuses on baths and shower gels. However it is also targeted to create ambience with aromas for Spas, homes and even hotels. It is very new to the Latvian Market, but it is getting more known and loved for their special aromas using oils and herbs. Products include, skin and body care, make-up, and perfumes for body and interiors.

The products are slightly more expensive than Stenders, but still reasonable priced for the Maltese market. I would definitely check them out either in Riga Plaza , or in any of the other 28 countries.

Douglas

Douglas is probably not new to many of you, this German chain of shops is available around Europe housing a variety of beauty products including their own. From make-up to perfumery and much more. However since Sephora is not available in Latvia, brands like Urban Decay and Benefit are found in most Douglas stores.

Stockmann – M.A.C

Image result for stockmann riga

Stockmann is a large shopping Mall in Latvia where you will find all of the high end luxury brands, like M.A.C, Yves Saint Laurent, Estee Lauder, Clarins, Bobbi Brown, and much more. I honestly didn’t get the chance to go trough the store, but it did me good.  Even if I love to stock up on some new M.A.C lipsticks, it’s time to take a break from buying for a little while. However if you are looking for some high quality beauty products, Stockmann is the place to be.

Something which I have missed was having a Kiko Milano Store, but it was probably for the best :D. Yet I was not disappointing at all with what Latvia offers, instead it left me wanting for more. It may not be one of the top destinations in the world, but it is definitely worth visiting. It might actually steal your heart 😀 <3

Well I hope you found this post helpful, let me know if you would like me to write about my travels. I will do another post and show you all of the products I got from Latvia.

Lots of love

Soy Wax Melts at My Melts in Mosta

Hello my lovely readers,

I would like to apologize for my absence in the last few months, believe me they were not the easiest. I was performing with the lovely Choir of Voices for one last time in October and before that I was full with rehearsals. Apart from that I have been travelling a lot for work and getting sick on and off due to the changes in weather. So having time to blog or even pamper myself with make-up and beauty products was a rare thing. But I won’t complain since I loved doing most of the stuff I mentioned.

Something I want to talk about today, is about these soy wax melts I discovered thanks to this fairly new store in Mosta called my Melts. It a lovely store owned by the sweetest Australian-Maltese Anastasia Abela. I met her a while ago were she has explained the idea behind her store and also has made me quite a fan of her Melts.20160505_185801
Throughout her years, she has had an interest in ways to enhance one’s surrounding with the use of aromas and scents. Anastasia explained that a certain perfume or smell can tend to remind us of a certain time in life, mostly good times. Which is quite true, I do have certain perfumes that remind me of home or even a place I visited. On thing I recall was when I was 16, and I travelled to Germany for my first time and I used to wear this lipbalm which had the strong yet lovely smell. I recently found it in an old box and the moment I opened the lip balm container, it brought all the memories when I was there. 20160505_185820

Trough her melts she wants to create a relaxing environment for everyone. Especially with the hectic lives we have nowadays, its good to have such things that can help our mood and give us a calming feeling. All you need is a burner (also available in her shop), one of her lovely melts and you can sit and enjoy the lovely aroma it provides. I find them ideal to use now in Winter, cause in summer it can tend to be a bit to hot to have in Malta.  Anastasia was really nice to give me one to test out, and it smells delicious.20160505_190515

You shall find a huge variety of different scents and perfumes, and she has the cutest packing ideal to give as gifts. I really can’t wait to have some time and go back to her store and get me more melts, and maybe even purchase her cute burner with the same heart shaped size of her Melts. The melts are really affordable and they can last up to 3 days if you let it burn out.
