Do it yourself: Manicure

M1Hello guys,

Well today post is a little bit different than usual, however it still has a lot to do with beauty. Recently my nails are a bit of a mess, and I honestly feel ashamed to have them looking so bad. My nails have never been thick, mostly because of my years of nail biting. It’s been 2 years since I stopped biting them and they have improved a lot, yet unfortunately they are still very thin and break very easily. Before the manicure my nails where all in different lengths, and they didn’t look one bit pretty. So I decided to give myself a manicure, and show you how to do it yourself. It is very easy just follow my steps.

M3

1 First step is to remove any bits of nail polish you might have left with a Nail polish remover. The one I used is from Kiko.

2 Second step is to dab your fingers into warm water for about 10 minutes. This will make your nails will be softer, which is ideal for when you need to file them.

M4

3 Next step is to file your nails, make sure to file them in one direction. The was my biggest mistake when I was younger I used to file them in both directions, which is why my nails are a mess. Also try to give them the same length.

4 Use a cuticle oil and apply and massage it one each nail, so that the nails will absorb it well. I used the Mavala Cuticle oil, it is seriously one of the best. Also if you have a cuticle remover ( not sure what it is actually called), push the cuticle inwards. Unfortunately I couldn’t find one so I used my nails instead.

5 Step five I applied some hand lotion, and let the hand absorb it well. I have quite a selection of hand creme but I decided to use the Dr.Organic hand and nail cream, because it is very moisturizing and ideal for nails.

6 Before applying any sort of nail polish, I made sure to remove and moisturizer that there might have been on the nails. As it might not help with the application.

7 Apply any base coat or hardener depends on the state of your nails. Being that I need a nail hardener I applied the Sally Hanson Miracle nail thickener. Not sure if I like the hardener over my usual OPI Nail envy but I will give it a shot. If you don’t need a hardener just apply a base coat, then any coloured nail polish you wish and finally a top coat.  This will make your nail polish last longer.

Well that is all for today DIY manicure, I hope you enjoyed this post and you found it helpful. If you need any help feel free to ask. Try to find time for yourself and make sure you take care of yourselves.

Make sure to like my facebook page and follow my blog for more beauty posts.

Its A New Year :D

Hello guys,

I really hope you all had a fabulous New Years Even and a great start to the New Year . Mine was was pretty good, I have a great New Year Eve with my best friends and a lovely relaxing New year day with my family.

Last year I made 3 beauty resolutions which were to take care more of skin, stop biting my nails and take care of my teeth.  Funnily enough I actually succeeded in all of my resolutions.  I stopped biting my nails and they are in their best shape ever, I also make it a point to clean my skin and take care of it as much as I can. Finally I also too care of my teeth and went to a dentist for about 3 times this year which was a huge improvement.

For this new year I will only do two resolutions which is to be healthier and more fit and also make sure to always look my best. Looking your best isn’t superficial or high maintenance, it’s a way to remind yourself how beautiful you truly are, which in the end will make you feel a lot better with yourself. When I look good, I feel great on the inside, no matter what things you might be going trough, it will make you feel better.  I think this is a resolution that every person should make and hopefully keep it. That is the thing that I truly love about make-up is that it can make you feel like your worth a million bucks, which will in the end give you more confidence and you will be able to go through anything.

I think I have mentioned a lot of times, how this blog has really helped me mentally and physically, and it’s true. I gave given so much to this blog and it has rewarded back. However this year I want to focus more on my health, I won’t be as active as much as I used to be on this blog. Being that I work full time and have a lot of commitments going on, it can be really hard for me to make time for everything. I will still post as much I can, but don’t worry if I will be a bit M.I.A here and there, I love this blog too much to let it go :D. Right now my number one priority is to get healthier, I have seen what being unhealthy can cause and it’s not pretty.

I think this new year has been really a gift for myself, to entirely focus on me. Being single will help me focus on myself and have more time to work hard on getting in better shape.  Last year I made the same resolution and I’ve gotten way healthier, I lost weight  but not enough to be at the healthiest weight, but I will get there this year. It was quite a tough year because as I was trying to have a healthy lifestyle a lot of things were going on in my life,  one of them which was my breakup with my then boyfriend.

With all of the bad, there was a lot of good happening last year. First of all my awesome friends, which have supported me trough anything, I don’t know what I would do without you guys. Also my blog getting its own domain and a lot of heart whelming support from you readers.

This post was a little different than my usual posts, and a little bit personal but I know it will get some good response. If you are really determined to get something done or changed in your life this is the time. I know they say, that the chances are you wont actually do what u u promised yourself to do, on the new year. But guess what, u can actually be the change  of that saying. I have actually succeeded in all of resolutions and so can you, you just have to believe in yourselves and be determined.:) Nothing comes easy you have to work for it, but nothing is impossible.

Lots of Love

XOXO

Blogger Award

It seems that my blog is doing so well, that I am actually nominated for the Blogger Award by the lovely Jessica from Product Hoochie. You should really check her blog out, you can truly get some awesome reviews about new products. Thank you Jessica you made my day 🙂

1. Answer the questions asked by the blog who followed you.
2. Nominate up to 20 other bloggers with less than 200 followers.
3. Create 11 questions for your nominees to answer.

So let’s start:

1. Where in the world are you?

I am from a small island in Europe called Malta. It is a beautiful sunny country with beautiful beaches, greenery and great night life.

2. How do your surroundings affect your beauty habits?

I think overall Maltese women care a lot about their image and do their best to look good. I have been brought up in a family with a majority of women and they all make sure they look their best when they head out. So as the youngest, I absorbed all the beauty secrets and have always made my best to look great which in the ends helps me feel great too.

3. What is your favorite thing to blog about?

I love it when I come up with a new make-up looks to blog about. I love doing reviews of products especially when I love the product, but there is nothing better than doing a post of a cool make-up look.

4. What is your favorite song of the moment?

I have to admit recently I have been obsessed with the voice of Tom Odell. I love the song Another Love and the lyrics speak to me directly right now.

5. What do you prefer, lipstick or lip gloss?

When I was younger I would definitely say lip-gloss but now that I am older I will have to say lipstick. All that gloss looks just silly on me right now.

6. What is one lesson you learned while blogging?

That you always have to keep your viewers interested that means blogging at least 4 times a week if not everyday.

7. If you could visit anywhere in the world, where would it be?

NYC BABY 🙂 yeah It has been my dream since I was a little girl, so yeah I do hope to visit someday.

8. What super power do you wish you had?

I am in between 2 powers, to either stop time and be able to have more time for myself and to do as much things as I can or be able to be at any place with a simple click, like the movie jumper (but hopefully have no one trying to kill me).

9. What do you do to relax?

I either listen to music and sing my heart out or else watch a TV show /movie.

10. Do you enjoy watching television?

Not really, I used to love watching it when I was younger, than I discovered the internet. I can watch anything I want on my laptop without having to watch any boring commercials that never end.

11. Name one thing you can live without!

Negative people that constantly try to pull you down.

People I nominate:

http://wearyourvitamins.com

http://fashionforlunch.wordpress.com

http://intothestratosphere.com

http://allthingslady.wordpress.com

http://blisswithbeauty.com

http://reshumalhotra.com/

http://ladywithnoname.wordpress.com

http://materialdetox.wordpress.com

http://fashionflora.wordpress.com/

http://niicolea.wordpress.com/

So these are the questions you need to answer:

1. Tell me about the country, town or city your from?

2. What was the reason you started blogging?

3. What do you love to blog about the most?

4. What is your favorite make-up product?

5. Would you ever spend a whole week without ever using cosmetics?

6. Mention something that your followers do not know about you?

7. What is your favorite hobby?

8. Do you have a pet?

9. What is your favorite song of the moment?

10. What suggestions would you give to other bloggers?

11. Last but not least what inspired you to name your blog?

That’s all for me guys 🙂

xoxo
