Christmas 2014 – Make-Up Look

Hello dear readers,

A while ago before Christmas I did this make- up look for you guys, but due to some technical issue, I couldn’t post it, neither on my blog nor on Facebook. Thankfully the issue is solved now, but unfortunately it made me post this look a bit later.

Before I start describing the look, I do hope you had a lovely Christmas with your loved ones and fabulous start to the New Year. I spent Xmas eve with my best friends, and Xmas day with my crazy family. While NYE was spent with friends once again but in another beautiful country, that of Italy. It was truly a lovely start to the New Year, even-though I wished there were a couple of people with me in Italy, which I truly love and care about, yet I carried them in my heart.

I want to take this moment, to thank all of you which have been following my blog and my work, and have believed in my talent, as a make-up artist and blogger. Always keep in mind, I am still learning and improving and would appreciate your feedback in everything I do.

  • The look is quite simple because I haven’t used a variation of colours per se. The eyes are a mixture of light to dark brown colours while for the lips I chosea nice blood-red colour with a tint of purple. I felt that in 2014 we have truly evolved when it comes to wearing bright and bold lipsticks, from Lorde to Beyonce, this was the year where we pushed the extremes with make-up.
  • The blush is a soft red colour mixed with a bit of bronzer to highlight cheek bones.

  • NYX box of eyeshadows
  • Revlon eyeliner
  • Maybelline Mascara
  • Pupa Milano Autumn Collection -Paris Experience- 002
  • MAC Breeze blusher
  • Make Up Revolution – Bronzer

Even-though Christmas has passed this look is pretty much wearable this winter, so feel free to have a try at this look and please tag me on instagram or facebook if you did so :).

Lost of love

NYX Stay Matte but not Flat Powder Foundation

My intent to purchase this powder was based on the mixed reviews I have been reading about it, apart from the actual need of a powder myself. After using it for a couple of months I completely understand why some love it and some don’t. I have honestly loved this powder because it is perfect for my oily t-zone, it has a lovely finish and stays on for quite a while.

The reason behind the bad reviews is because people try to use it as a foundation, which I completely understand being that it’s said to be a powder foundation. This is not a foundation but just a setting powder, and you need to apply a foundation underneath or else it won’t stay on your face for a long time. I bought it in the natural colour, which matches my skin colour perfectly, especially in winter. I still use it in summer especially under my eye over my concealer.

I wish to excuse myself for not providing my own images for this product but being that I have used this powder a lot, it’s not in the best shape so here are some images taken from the net.

I am a huge fan of this powder, I carry it with me everywhere it’s probably the best powder the price it sells for which is similar to that of any drugstore brand. The texture is fine and silky, great for oily skin, but it you are super oily I would go for something different, because it has a medium coverage. However if you have a normal combination skin, this is perfect.
The packaging is lovely, durable, very sleek and MAC looking; the only think that is a bit annoying is the tiny little plastic tab that you have to use to get the sponge compartment. But other than it’s definitely a must have.

  • Sleek, durable packaging
  • Formula with medium coverage, fine and silky
  • Long lasting
  • Good Pricing

  • The lid for the sponge compartment to tiny to open

Will I ever buy this product again? I will for sure, being that it’s soon coming to an end (because I use it every day), I need a couple more of these.
Do I recommend it? Definitely, it’s a good quality product, and perfect for anyone with a combination skin.
Rating: 4/5
Would love to hear from your opinion, if you ever tried this product

Flawless – Make-Up Look

Hey guys,

A while ago I bought the “Flawless” tshirt from Beyonce’s new Album clothing line. As most you already know I am quite a huge Beyonce fan and as a Woman and quite a  feminist I am really in love with her song called Flawless.  The song Flawless is about us women believing in our true natural beauty and to always work to better ourself and not to please men but to please ourselves. With that motto in my head, I put the shirt on, wore some fancy jewellery and wore a fearless and “flawless” make up look. Some of you might have thought I would do a more natural look, because indeed we are all beautiful naturally. But nothing makes me feel more flawless than an edgy make-up look, cause in the end we should feel free to express our self the way we like. 🙂

The look is very edgy, smoking but still feminine, check out my step by step instructions below:

  • For the eyes I basically did a normal Smokey eye look with a twist underneath. I started off with the black eye shadow onto the crease and blended it out on the mid lid with a beige/white colour. Very easy and simple to do.
  • I also used a brown colour on the crease to blend the black with the white, which unfortunately isn’t that visible due to my low quality camera.
  • What makes the look stand out is the purple cream eye-shadow which I applied under the lower lashes moving further out, under the black eyeliner.
  • Of course you cannot finish the look without the usual eyeliner and mascara

  • NYX Palette
  • Wjon purple cream eye-shadow
  • MAC gel liner
  • Benefit They’re real Mascara

Cheeks and Lips

  • For the cheeks I used a little bit of bronzer (but not as much as it looks in the photo hehe which reminds me, to but a good camera) and then applied a reddish tone blusher.
  • As for the lips I used the natural pinkish colour lipstick

Well I hope you liked this look, it is a very simple look so you can try it easily at home. If you love Smokey eyes but want to try something different use a pop or colour under the lower lashes, believe me you will look great. Remember if you have small eyes, it is better to use coloured eyeliner, and make it very thin.

Make-Up Look – Malta Fashion Awards 2014

Hello guys,

As promised,  today I want to show you the make-up look and what I wore for the Malta Fashion Awards. Unfortunately I do not have a picture of the outfit, but let me describe it. The outfit consisted of a black body con type dress with white and coral flowers and on top a black blazer, being that it was quite a chilly night.

To match the dress, I wore this beautiful gold chain necklace with coral shaped flower and matching earrings, ring and bracelet.  Pastel colours are very much in this summer, so definitely be on the lookout. As for my nails, I used the Pupa Milano gel nail polish in a very similar shade as the accessories.

Now let’s move on to the most important part which is the make-up. Being that it is the most fashionable night in Malta, I had to go all out, so I took my time and tried my best to create something great. I basically was inspired by the outfit itself and used a mixture of corals, gold and black colours.  Apart from applying the eyeshadow on the upper lid I also applied the coral colour under my lower lashes.

I finished the look with some winged liner, mascara and of course some individual fake lashes for more of a dramatic effect.  This look is perfect for this spring and summer to come; it’s very dressy but still vibrant for the hot summer days which are yet to come. Finally I chose a light pink shade for the lips and even for the cheeks.

List of Products:

  • MAC Prep and Prime primer
  • Vichy Dermablend foundation
  • Urban Decay Primer Potion Eden
  • NYX Eyeshadow Palette
  • MAC Gel liner
  • Rimmel Scandalous eyes Mascara
  • Ardell individual fake lashes
  • NARS Laguna blusher
  • NARS Deep Thought bronzer
  • MAC Viva Glam by Nicky

Well I hope you enjoyed this look and my post, please show some love by liking my page or following my blog. I do appreciate if you share my blog with your friends and family

Lots of Love

Urban Decay- Potion Primer Eden

It is not secret  that Urban decay has an amazing range of great quality products and their Potion Primer is no exception. I’ve heard so much about this primer that I had to have it. A long time ago I bought the Original Potion Primer from e-bay and the result wasn’t at all satisfying, but its a huge probability that they were either expired or just not right.  Then as I was in London apart from the Naked 2 palette I had to buy the primer of course, however this time I bought it in eden. I really like the yellow-toned colour  and that it’s matte(which reminds me to that of a concealer), I find it ideal as a base colour.

The aim of the product is to prevent creasing and helps your eyeshadow stay all day long and also increase the color vibrancy of the eyeshadow.  It truly does what it says, it didn’t crease on me and it worked wonders on my skin tone and the eyeshadow truly does last all day long. I have used this primer for weddings and photoshoots and they all were impressed how their make-up stayed put all day long. It truly makes the eye-shadow more vibrant, even if it’s a cheap shadow. If your skin has pink undertones I do suggest Sin instead of Eden as this might be a bit too yellowish for your taste.

Like the name Potion Primer, the packaging looks like a potion bottle which I find to be utterly cute. I have seen this primer in a tube like mine but there might be also available with a doe foot applicator.

  • Good quality and cute packaging
  • Prevents creasing
  • Eye-shadow stays all day long thanks to this primer
  • This beauty costs £16  which is probably about 19 or 20 euros, this might be seen as pricey but seriously it’s worth every penny.

  • The only con I can think of it that I might not be suitable for someone with pink undertones but other than that this is just perfect.

Will I ever buy this product again? Definitely, if I ever run out of this primer I will have to figure a way to repurchase this beauty and probably the rest of the Urban Decay Primer Potion collection.

Do I recommend it? For sure, I personally think this is a must have especially for those special occasions where you need your make up to look great all day long like weddings or other celebrations.

Have you tried this particular primer, let me know what you think about it down below 🙂

Bourjois – Healthy Mix Serum – Foundation

As I was in London last September, like the beauty addict that I am, I hit the boots store and as I was looking around I came across the Bourjois section. Even-though we do have Borjois in Malta, I rarely have time to go to drug stores and look out for new cosmetics. I have been reading a lot about their foundation for a while now and there is quite the hype going on. However for me it’s really not worth the hype, not that I regret buying it but I really don’t understand why it is so popular.

The only colour that is somewhat close to my skin tone is 52 Vanilla and is it still a really weird shade. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but it basically looks like a lemon tone cream colour, it matched my skin tone pretty well, even though I don’t like the yellow undertone.  This foundation gives a very light to medium coverage, I have to apply several layers in order to get the desired look and when I do that it can look be pretty cakey.

The things I like about this foundation is the scent, it pretty pleasant and refreshing. Even the packaging is pretty nice, even-though I tend to lose the red lid, many times, but the pump is very functional. I also like how radiant my face looks when I apply this foundation, but I would have wished that it covered more and that it lasted longer. On the packaging it says that is last for 16hrs, which is of course a lie, it last for about 4-5 hours max, with a primer and powder there is a probability that it lasts a little bit longer.

  • The scent is pretty nice
  • The texture is not too runny not too dry
  • Leavs the skin looking pretty radiant and fresh
  • Packaging is pretty nice and functional

  • Gives a very light coverage, you need to apply two layers or else it’s barely visible. However if you apply to much it can also be cakey.
  • Not suitable for an evening out.
  • I simply don’t like the yellow undertone, it is not for me.
  • It retails for about €16 which is a pretty decent price but you can honestly find cheaper foundations that do a much better job than this.
  • Be careful were you store the this foundation, because the lid can be easily broken or lost as the plastic is very thin.

Will I ever buy this product again? I don’t think so, the colour, texture and formula really does nothing for me.

Do I recommend it? If you have a similar skin colour to mine I wouldn’t recommend it, however you can still use it as an everyday make-up. I do recommend it to those that are asian or anyone that has a yellow undertone skin, I think this would be very suitable, however remember it still gives a very light finish.

Have you ever tried this foundation, what do you honestly think about it ? I love to read your comments. Thanks for stopping by

Purple Rain- Make-up look

Hey guys,

It is Saturday and another Make-up look is up :D. Not sure if you have noticed, but I have been seeing a lot of Purple and blue colours when it comes to eye-shadow looks, apart from the usual nude. I felt I should create a new completely different look with the use of these colours, by using contrast. From a very pale white to vibrant purples hues. I find this look is wearable in any season, from Winter to Spring and even Summer.

  1. I always start every look with a primer then move on to the brows , give them a little bit of definition using a dark eyeshadow.
  2. Then I applied a metallic shimmery white colour onto the mid lid and followed with a puple dark colour on the inner and outer crease of the lid. I followed the dark purple with a lighter shade, which created this rainbow effect using only these 3 different colours.
  3. Finished of the look with the usual winged liner and mascara.

  •  Two faced eye-shadow primer
  • Inglot purple Colours
  • Vamp Eyeshadow- white
  • Barry M – Gel eyeliner
  • Rimmel – Scandalous eyes Mascara

Cheeks & Lips

  • Primark Sunkissed bronzer and highlighter
  • Mac blusher – Dollymix
  • Mac -Creme cup lipstick

Well that is all concerning my new look, I do hope you like it. Let me know your opinion throught by commenting down below. Show your support by following my blog trough Facebook or e-mail 😀

Benefit – They’re Real Mascara

Hello guys,

I am finally starting to review some of the products I got from London, which I have been testing for a while now. The first product I will review is the most raved about Mascara ever, which is the Benefit – They’re Real Macara. I was really excited to try this mascara because of great reviews I’ve read, but it turned out to be a bit of disappointment. Mind you it’s not a bad mascara, I seriously love how it separates my lashes, but I have no idea why there is such a hype about it. I do still have mixed feelings about this product, which you will notice from my pros and cons.

  • I love the packaging it reminds me of a 50’s style mascara, it comes in a black box with orange typography, while the actual mascara has a nice silver/grey squarish shape.
  • I love how it separates the lashes, the brush is the main reason for that because it’s like a hard comb to the lashes.
  • Makes lashes really long
  • Easy brush to use, even if the brush is a little bit weird
  • It’s jet black

  • Being that I have thick and heavy lashes it clumps them after to many layers.
  • It didn’t give me any volume
  • The brush is a bit to hard for my taste, the first time I applied the mascara I almost hurt my eyes, but once you get used to it, its OK.
  • If I don’t layer up, it doesn’t look like I have any mascara on
  • It is a bit expensive for such a mascara, i got it for about €24 which is about £19.

Will I ever buy this product again? Not sure to be honest, I like how it seperates my lashes but it doesn’t give me any volume. Mixed feelings :/

Do I recommend it? If you are looking for a mascara that separates your lashes and gives you length, I highly recommend it but if you are looking for volume then this is not your mascara.

Have you ever tried this Mascara?, would love your opinion. Keep posted for more guys 🙂

Golden Globes 2014 – Worst Dressed

Hey guys,

Today must be the only time I posted twice in a day, but I had to cover the Golden Globes  🙂 from the best to the worst dressed. Unfortanetly like every year there are those that try to be different in a good way but unfortunately end up looking very bad. Here is my list of worst dressed at the Awards.

Puala Patton , honey what were you thinking with this dress? If it wearent for this huge side ruffle, it wouldn’t have been so bad. It’s like the designer didn’t want to waste the extra fabric and added it to the dress.  Such a pity, she is such a beautiful actress.

Paula Patton

A award winning Actress shouldn’t be wearing such a cheap looking dress. It looks like a prom dress rather than something you would wear for the Golden Globes. The fabric looks a little bit cheap and the colors totally clash for me. I’m sorry Sandra Bullock but it’s just wrong.

Sandra Bullock

Julia Roberts wears this lovely Dolce and Gabbana  strapless dress then wears with this white hideous blouse underneath. It just doesn’t make any sense are you going to work as a waitress or to the Golden globes? Without the blouse she would have looked great such a pity.
Julia Roberts

Even-though Heidi Klum looks good in everything,I did expert more from a Super model, this marches gown doesn’t give her any justice. The white flowers on a black dress, simply doesn’t do it for me however if Heidi wore a more dainty jewelry and maybe put her hair up in a bun, she would have looked more elegant because it is definitely not an ugly dress.

Not quite right: Heidi Klum's black and white floral Marchesa gown exuded romance, but her black choker necklace and exaggerated cleavage took away from the dress's charm

Many love this dress/outfit but seriously what is there to like?. It like she wasn’t sure if to wear a dress or a suit, so she combined both. Hone decide what you want don’t go for both at the same time. The front is simply boring, the back is so and so but i’m sorry trousers are not for the Golden Globes. Next time decide what you want please, this is simply confusing.

Is it a dress? Emma Watson's open back Dior ensemble, which looked like a gown from the front but revealed black pants at the back, resembled a glorified hospital gownIs it a dress? Emma Watson's open back Dior ensemble, which looked like a gown from the front but revealed black pants at the back, resembled a glorified hospital gown

I seriously want to give Jennifer Lawrence some fashion tips, especially when it comes to gowns. Lawrence has this beautiful slim curvy body that would look gorgeous in some figure hugging dresses but she does it wrong all the time. The only time I saw her in a beautiful gown was at the Oscars. This Dior dress looks like a white blanket with black belts around the waist and hips, I might be rough but it’s the truth.  It’s such a pity to see her in there boring dresses, she needs a bit of help.

Awkward details: Jennifer Lawrence resembled Little Bo Peep in her poufy white Dior gownAwkward details: Jennifer Lawrence resembled Little Bo Peep in her poufy white Dior gown, which was cinched awkwardly at the waist and below the hips with stark black straps

Lena Dunham from Girls, wore this beautiful Zac Posen dress, mind you it is beautiful but not on her. Lesson number 1 if you are very pale, don’t wear a long yellow dress, seriously what where you thinking? Lesson number 2 this shape of dress is not good for you. Face it with her body this is not the style of dress to go for, it has be more flowing, or else you look like your wearing a size to small.

Not so mellow yellow: Lena Dunham's canary yellow Zac Posen strapless gown was not very flattering for her skin tone and clashed with her red lipstick

Zoe Saldana, where did you find this dress? if you bought this dress, they seriously robbed you, you should give it back. Saldana is such a beautiful woman and this dress doesn’t give her any justice. It’s like the designer has 3 dresses and stitched them into one dress. I will be blunt it is a really ugly dress, all those embellished flowers and see-through fabric at the end, it make me stomach turn.

Zoe Saldana

Kaley Cuoco what where you thinking honey? you are so beautiful and have a beautiful body why did you wear my grandma’s bedspread? Apart from that, the color of the dress is very similar to your skin. Never wear anything that is is very close to your skin, it doesn’t look good, either people will think your naked or just boring.

Kaley Cuoco

That is all when it comes to the Golden Globes, it was so much fun writing my opinion about these dresses. I hope you enjoyed reading, let me know what you think 🙂

Golden Globes 2014 – Best Dressed

I am not a fashion expert but I do love fashion. When I was little I used to love watching the catwalks and design my own clothes on paper. So when such a fashionable yet important event like the Golden Globes occurs, I love to look at the beautiful detailed dresses designers make.

My number one favorite has to be Cate Blanchet in this beautiful black laced Armani gown. This gown look exceptionally beautiful on her porcelain skin, even the back is simply divine.  Cate Blanchet is a beautiful, elegant and talented woman and she showed it all in this beautiful dress.

My second favorite has to be Kate Backinsale in a Zuhair Murad dress.  The shape of the dress is simply gorgeous on her fabulous body, and the detail and design of this dress is to die for.

Pure sophistication: Kate Beckinsale showed off her slim frame in a Zuhair Murad fishtail gown and loose updoPure sophistication: Kate Beckinsale showed off her slim frame in a Zuhair Murad fishtail gown and loose updo

Sofia Vergara has to be my third choice for sure, she wore this beautiful black dress by Zac Posen and accesorised it with a chunky turquoise necklace. I love the shape of this dress, it hugs her curvaceous body pretty well, simply gorgeous.

Yes another black dress, does that say anything about me ? hehe. However you have to admit Emma Roberts look great in this dress. I love the beautiful neckline of the dress and it fits her to perfection.

Happy together: Emma Roberts and fiancée Evan Peters couldn't stop smiling as they walked the carpet togetherHappy together: Emma Roberts and fiancée Evan Peters couldn't stop smiling as they walked the carpet together

Lupita Nyong’o sported a sleeveless red Ralph Lauren gown, complete with cape detail. At first I didn’t know if I hated of loved this dress because of the cape, but I have to admit it looks exceptionally beautiful on her lovely chocolate skin.

I have to give it to Hellen Mirren, not only she looks ravishing in this embroidered Jenny Packham emerald gown. She looks stunning and amazing for her agem I’ll be more than happy to look like that at her at her age.

Green goddess: Helen Mirren looked stunning in her embroidered Jenny Packham emerald gownGreen goddess: Helen Mirren looked stunning in her embroidered emerald gown

Lily Rabe is a very talented actress in American Horror story but being that she isn’t an A list actress, there wasn’t a particular emphases on her dress but I simple love it and it deserves a good review.  She wore a beautiful brown dress with graphic black overlay and it look great with her blonde complexion.

Big black dresses: Jacqueline Bisset wore off-the-shoulder black and gold, while Monica Potter sported a gold top and black skirt, Allison Williams wore black and white and Lily Rabe wore a brown dress with black overlay

Below are some more pretty dresses that I liked but didn’t impress me much.

A rainbow of dresses: Sandra Bullock Reese Witherspoon, Amy Adams and Amber Heard were the leading brights on the red carpet at the Golden Globes Awards at the Beverly Hilton on Sunday nightA rainbow of dresses: Taylor Swift, Amy Adams, Reese Witherspoon, Amber Heard were the leading brights on the red carpet at the Golden Globes Awards at the Beverly Hilton on Sunday nightAll white on the night: Margot Robbie flashed the flesh in a plunging white gown split to the thigh with beaded detail on the waist and shoulderEmbellished frocks: Julianna Margulies wore a black gown with gold leaf design while Melissa McCarthySilver lining: Mila Kunis was the epitome of glamour in her sequinned Gucci gown with her brown locks pulled up into an updoHot metal: Naomi Watts sported a slinky Tom Ford champagne gown with a chunky gold neck detailClassy in crimson: Jessica Lange sported a draped velvet number while Julie Delpy looked resplendent in scarlet 680

These are my favorite dresses from the Golden Globes, what were your favorites? let me know by commenting own below 🙂

I will do another post about the worst dressed for the Golden Globes so keep posted
