How to Get Healthy Skin

Hello guys :),

Today I want to talk about something that is very important to me and than unfortunately not many do know how, which is how to have a healthy skin. There is a huge misconception that to have a healthy looking skin, you need to spend a lot of cash on skin care but the truth is you don’t.

As I have mentioned in my New Year post (which you can view here),  I truly want to take care of myself and my health this year. I have been doing great so far, I am eating healthy, exercising  and doing my best to take care of myself. Apart from change in my weight, I have seen a huge difference in my skin, my pimples and redness has diminished and I have been loving applying make-up, cause I don’t need to use a lot of foundation nor concealer.  I think apart from taking care of your health it’s makes your skin look great and you will feel just as great.

Here are some great tips for you to get a healthy skin:

1 Decrease you sugar intake :

I would highly suggest you stop eating and sugary stuff, like Soda or candy. Contrary to popular belief, chocolate isn’t bad for you, it all the added sugars it has that harm your skin. So you can have a piece of dark chocolate once in a while but never exaggerate. It all about moderation.

2 Eat Healthy Food

People think healthy food is just salads, or you don’t eat much but that’s far from the truth. I eat plenty of food but I always spice it up with different recipes. There are so many healthy recipes you can try and believe me most of them taste better than all the junk there is out there. The change I have seen in my skin is simply amazing.  I also read that nuts and fish are really great for a healthy skin, because their oils clean out the bad oils you have in your skin.

3 Drink lots of water

A person should drink 2lts of water everyday, however if you don’t like to drink water make sure you drink at least 6 to 8 glasses of water. Don’t drink only when thirsty, you should drink water all the time even when not thirst because you might suffer from dehydration without even knowing. Apart from that water has a lot of benefits for your skin, I see a huge change in my skin and apart from that it gives me more energy too.

4 Exercise

Apparently sweating helps your skin, and the way you feel internally when you workout it will eventually show in your skin.  Make sure to wash you face after even if you just wipe it with a cloth. Choose something fun and stick to it, I love walking and running but I do love dancing once in a while too.

5 Experiment with Facial Cleansers

Find a cleanser that works for your particular skin type and stick with it. Also make sure you clean your face daily especially when you have make-up on.  Never sleep with your make-up on, if you are to tired to wash your face properly at lease use a facial wipe.

6 Stress less and workout more

Your body has natural defenses against stress, and you need to flush it out of your body as if it were a toxin or it will become physically visible. For instance recently I was a bit stressed and it was very cold  and a cold sore appeared on my nose :(, so if your stress relex with some music or else let all the stress out by working out.

 7 Don’t over wash

Once a day is more than enough, if you wash it too often it won’t help those natural good oils which we all have in our skin.

8 Avoid touching your face

I have a viscous habit to touch my face a lot , if i’m thinking, working or just bored and a lot of pimples occur. So avoid touching your face especially if your hands touches something else or they aren’t clean, there are germs everywhere.

I hope these tips were helpful, and if you follow these simple step, I do guarantee you will have a healthier looking skin and u will feel great. If you still have problems I do suggest you visit a dermatologist, especially if you have serious acne problems but these steps will definitely help.

XOXO

Event- The New Dean Gera HairCare in Collaboration with the Make-up Store

Hello guys,

1

This beauty blogger has been quite busy these past 3 weeks, with events and new openings which means that great things are happening in Malta :). I was lucky enough to be invited to the gorgeous new Dean Gera hair salon. The Salon is actually connected to the beautiful Make-up store at the Point shopping complex in Sliema. I have been to the Make-up store a couple of times when it first opened. I have been in love the quality of their make-up and now you can get to have your hair looking good too.

It was a lovely event and we were greeted with some tasteful Martini Royale Cocktails and nibbles. The salon is beautifully designed with the same sleek black and while design as the make-up store has. Me and some other bloggers tried the nice leather Salon chairs and we definitely liked the idea of getting our hair pampered in these comfortable chairs.

Being the make-up addict that I am, I ended swatching most of the make-up store products and ended up buying some of their amazing products. We were given a goodie bag with some nice hair products sample which I can’t wait to try out and also a product from the Make-up store. I will do a  short separate post to show you all the goodies and products 🙂

Price wise Make-up store is very similar to Inglot not too expensive but not cheap either, however in the end you are really paying for the quality you get. Dean Gera Hair Care treatments are quite similar to any other hairdressers I have been to as seen from the list of prices we were given, and they seem quite reasonable.

I hope you enjoyed this post, I highly recommend for you visit both Make up store and the Dean Gera Hair care as you will definitely will enjoy it.

Indian Inspired – Make-up Look

Hey guys,

First of all I want to wish all the Maltese a happy feast while for the rest of the world I do hope you are enjoying your day to the full :). Recently I have been very influenced by the Indian culture. I am in love with the use of colours when it comes to fashion, make up and even religion. Colour plays an important aspect to their values and everyday life. Something I noticed is, that they go full out with make-up and colour on bridal make-up. In western societies we usually go for more natural colours.

1

It would be interesting, I really get to do make up in India, because I wouldn’t have any restraints. Both in Malta and other western countries I have had clients that are sometimes scared to apply different colours because they think it will look bad, but it doesn’t. It all comes to application and blending. However let’s get to my look, I have noticed the use of purple, blue, and yellow in Indian Make-up so I thought these should be my main colours.

4

For this look I used:

  1. The Two Faced, shadow insurance primer
  2. Make up store – white shimmer colour
  3. E.l.f palette for the yellow, blue, purple colour
  4. Maybellline lasting drama gel eyeliner
  5. L’Oreal extra volume colagen Mascara
  6. For the lips I used OMG  lipstick by MUA
  7. Cheek, elf baked bronzer, Mac sheerton blusher breezy

2 3Well guys I do hope you like this look. I do hope I made justice to the beautiful Indian make-up. If you like this look, I would appreciate a like or comment down below, thank you for following

Subtle Pink – Make-up Look

Hey guys,

So about 2 weeks ago, I went to the Isle of MTV and I wore this pink make-up look, which I grew fond of. I have to admit I am not a pinky person when it comes to eye-shadows but in Summer I do like to experiment with colors.  So get ready for some colorful make-up looks :).

P1

For this look I used 2 main palettes, the e.l.f 100 shades palette and the Fraulein 38. This is the list of products and step by step instructions:

P4

  1. First I applied a thin layer of concealer using the Make up store covering cover all concealer.
  2. Then I used a matte white colour from the Fraulein neutral palette and applied it under my brows and on the inner corner of my lid.
  3. On the middle of my lid I used a bronze colour and blended it with a light pink colour.
  4. For the crease I used a brown colour and applied a vibrant pink on the inner corner of my eyes.
  5. Finally I applied the maybelline gel liner and Loreal Mascara.
  6. As for the lips I used the MAC Viva glam by Nicky and for the cheeks the Marbert pink blusher and elf bronzer st.lucia.

P2

This look is perfect for a casual night out or a bbq or even lunch date. I do hope you like this look, keep posted for more and thank you for following.

Let me know in the Comment section if you would you wear this look. 🙂

Shine On- Award

Hey guys,

So this week I was nominated by the lovely Mammu from Mammu Likes. Do check her out, she is an Estonian Beauty with a sense of style and fashion tips. Thank you so much for this Award, it means I am doing something right with this blog 🙂

Basically I have to mention 7 things about myself an nominated others for this award. Well I do hope I don’t bore you to that, so here we go:

1. Well something that people don’t think when they see me, is that I was quite a tomboy when I was a kid. I used to hang out with boys, play football and had even my cut out short. I was a carefree child and didn’t care what people said about me.

2. Nowadays I still keep that tomboyish side of me when it comes to handy work. I am quite a handy person, if there something that needs fixing, I just find a way to do it. I painted my room on my own and decorated it by myself and maybe with a little help from relatives.

3. I am quite good when it comes to building things with wood. At the institute of Art and Design we had an opportunity to try a particular workshop and i chose the wood workshop.  I carved wood, used the wood turning, created a lot of designs using wood and I love it.  I learned a lot when I was working with wood which actually helps a lot when it comes to my  job as a designer in office furniture.

4. Apart from my manly side, when I was younger I used to love designing clothes. I had a bunch of sketchbooks full of designs. I used to love watching the runway shows, with my sketchbook in my hands and drawing different outfit ideas that were probably fashionable at that time.

5. When I was a student I couldn’t afford buying new clothes, I had to go by with what I had. So I used to modify my clothes, so they always looked fashionable. I would create outfits out of nothing and when I went out I made sure I always looked good. I remember once I was given an ugly dress, and with the help of my mother which used to be a seamstress, changed it into this completely different and gorgeous dress.

6. To some extent blogging is my therapy. I love blogging because it reminds me to always enjoy the thing you have in your life 🙂 to always take care of yourself and be beautiful.

7. Some of you may know this already by I have another blog called “Work in Progress” which is about my weight loss journey. If you would like, you can check it out here.

So here are my Nominees in no particular order:

Red Bliss – Make-up Look

Hey guys,
Yesterday I had a small party of my niece’s Holy Communion, and I wore a nice red lace top, that I bought a while ago. I thought of matching my make-up to what I wore with a twist. Usually when you use a red colour as an eye-shadow it can look very dark and Gothic, to give it a lighter tone I used a very light and vibrant green on the inner corner of my eyes.

R2

List of products that I used:

  1. As a base colour I used the eye transformer palette by E.l.f which is the first shade of the palette that transforms into a whitish green.
  2. Then I applied the red in the middle of my lid blending it out into the crease using the Palette from E.l.f.
  3. For the crease I used a dark black also from E.l.f and blended it out with the red.
  4. Then I applied the light green/ lime colour on the inner crease and under my eye to give tone the whole look down. I applied it after the darker colours because when you are working with dark colours like red and black a light colour tends to fade away. So by applying it, as a last thing, it shows and lasts longer.
  5. Finally I applied a nice winged liner using the Golden Rose eyeliner and applied some Mascara using the L’oreal volume Mascara.
  6. As for the cheeks I used the E.l.f  baked brozer St.lucia, and M.a.c Breezy sheertone blusher.
  7. Last but not least for the lips I used the Catrice colour show lipgloss

That’s all for now guys, I hoped you enjoyed this make-up look.

Thank you for following and keep posted for more 🙂

Pupa Milano Multiplay in Black

Hey guys,
Recently I was given this eye pensil by Pupa called Multiplay and before I review a product I truly want to test it out . The pensil is called Multiplay because you can use it in 3 various ways, either as an eyeliner, underneath the eyes or as an eye-shadow. The Multiplay has 2 ends one containing the eyeliner and the other part has like a sponge applicator to smudge the eye pensil to create a smokey eye look.
DSC01282DSC01284 DSC01285 DSC01287

I honestly haven’t used an eye pencil in a while because I usually use eyeshadows, liquid or cream eyeliner, so I was happy to get this eye pencil from pupa so I can see what I’m missing. Once I applied it for the very first time I was surprised how it glides on perfectly. It is very easy to apply mainly because of its creamy texture, so it applies smoothly.
The black is also a true black, even when you blend it out you can see there are no grey tints in it like some other liners have. I also like how looks when you smudge it out, to create a smokey eye look.

The pensil is also waterpoof and long lasting. I wore it for work the other day and it stayed put for over 8hrs. The selling price of this liner is 6.89euros, quite a reasonable price for such a great product.

Last but not least the Multiplay comes in various colors as you can see from the images below, so there is definitely a lot to choose from.

Well I hope you enjoyed this review, if you are interested in buying pupa products you will find them at various outlets and pharmacies around Malta. Thank you for following and keep posted for more 🙂

Make up Trends this Spring

Hey guys,

As someone which loves make-up a lot, it is important to keep myself updated with the new styles and trends every season.  Spring is finally here and I did my research on what is in Vogue right now and what was seen on the runway.

Red Signals

At first, it seemed like spring would be a season of pale lips. At Prada, makeup queen Pat McGrath went for a matte crimson, outlining the outermost part of lips in red pencil that accentuated the shape of the mouth (tip: this makes lips look bigger and fuller). All told, the season’s rouges ranged from pinky-red at Missoni and Oscar de la Renta to the classic power red at Jean Paul Gaultier to the dark and dramatic black cherry at Jonathan Saunders, proving the enduring appeal of being in the red. Not much is going on with the eyes as it is very natural to extenuate the lips.

Featured: Dolce & Gabbana

Eyeliner In Full Effect

Ever since the cat-eye trend hit last year, eyeliner has become a newfound essential.  It’s a downtown look that went a bit uptown at Chanel where makeup artist Peter Philips created striking contrast with his jet black liner by swiping on a platinum shadow over the lids, giving us inspiration for how to dress up a few simple strokes for day to night

Lush Lashes

60’s are back from the inky, Twiggy-like fringe seen at Gaultier to the curled and combed up look at Gucci, it’s time to have fun with your lashes this season. For the beauty adventurous, look to the chic-clumpy variety at Véronique Leroy, and our favorite, the heavy lashes offset with white liner—and nails to match—at Moschino.

The Bold And Beautiful Brows

Strong brows proved their staying power again. At Etro, makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury went for a “fresh, clean” nineties-inspired look, which she created by filling in with M.A.C.’s Eye Brow pencils in Fling and Lingering. Meanwhile Estée Lauder Creative Makeup Director Tom Pecheux enhanced the arches of stunners like Arizona Muse at Anthony Vaccarello with the Estée Lauders’s Automatic Brow Pencil Duo in Soft Brown. A handy pro tip: brush brow hairs down to find your natural shape, then fill in sparse areas with a pencil, using short, feathery strokes to shape and even out the contours of your brows.

Seeing Blue And Green

A Mediterranean influence swept the shows, as makeup artists dabbed their eye makeup brushes in shades of turquoise, jade and vibrant aqua. Even though the references supposedly ranged from the psychedelic sixties at Moschino Cheap and Chic to bejeweled butterflies at Gucci, the look wasn’t too wild or extreme for the every day wearer. Try a thin streak of green eyeliner seen at Stella McCartney or Kenzo, a saturated smear of sapphire on the base of lids like at Versus, or a color-blocked etching of royal blue or teal a la Fendi. And for those moments of all-out glamour, place a few sparkles around your eyes like a Gucci model if you dare.

These are the trends this season from bright lips to heavy eyeliner, big brows, fake lashes and colorful eyes. What I noticed is in every look is mostly natural but then they transform each look with something bold like red lips or a bright eye colour.

That is all for now guys but keep posted as I will posted something interesting later on 🙂

xoxo
