My Latvian Beauty Haul <3

Hello dear readers,

I hope you liked my previous post, where I mentioned the best places to shop should you visit Latvia or even the Baltic region. Since most shops are available in all of the Baltic countries, and not only in Latvia. I would suggest you read the post before you keep reading this one, so you get a sense of what the shops are about. But if you are looking to see some goodies keep on scowling down.

So let’s starts amd show you all of the products I bought from all of these Latvian shops. 😀

Drogas

Since Drogas have all the products you need, for hair, face and body at a cheap price, I did buy quite a lot of stuff. Here’s the list below:

  • 5 Lipstick shades from Fennel a cosmetic company from Thailand. They were discounted to 1 to 2 approx euros each.
  • Wellness & Beauty by Rossmann – Tea Extract and Olive – body oil. A Polish company which provide this range of body oils and much more.
  • Natura Siberica – Loves Latvija – Body scrub. It is a Russian Organic brand based in Siberia, which have a variety of skin and body care collections and one is dedicated to it’s neighbour of Latvia.
  • Amie Naturally kind- Skin care- Morning Clear Purifying Facial wash – Got it at discount for approx 3 euros 😀
  • L’Oreal Evital – Heat protector on coloured hair – Since the one I currently use by Tresemme is running out, I needed a replacement.
  • Body Butter and Body Scrub by Superdrug – These were on offer for just 1.30euros each, and they are just as good as the body butter from the Body shop.
  • L’Oreal Nutri Gold Face Oil and Moisturizer – Since my face was getting pretty dry I thought I should try these out.
  • L’Oreal Mascara and SkinPerfection Micellar Water- to clean my face from all the make-up I put on.
  • Golden Rose – Long-stay Matte Foundation… can’t wait to test it out 😀
  • Beauty FormulaCharcoal Clay Mask-I heard pretty good things about the mask and they were not lying. Review coming up.

Stenders

From this awesome shop I got the shower gel and creamy body scrub in cranberry. I also got a pieces of soap from their enormous collection, forgot the name but I simple love the smell. It also left the lovely aroma on all of my clothes, since it was in my luggage. Finally I was given a cute travel set to try their shampoo and conditioner, by my lovely Latvian friend. Even if im dieing to try them out, I want to wait a bit, since they contain such nice memeories.

Dzintars

From the Latvian skin care range of Dzintars I only got their lipbalms, the green one is the original while the orange one is a new range. It is all written in latvian so cannot say what is the difference between them. But I like the most the orange one since it has a nice fruity smell.

Rituals

The Dutch brand of Rituals recently launched the collection called the Ritual of Sakura, from which I got the body mist, body lotions and shower gel. The cool thing about the shower gel is that it comes out as foam, and you don’t need a large amount since its spreads.  Can’t wait to pamper myself with them.

Street Markets

In most cities of Latvia you will find street markets, especially in Christmas time. One day I went to Jurmala, a lovely city next to the Beach. There you can find shops and also cute street markets, where you can find anything from scarfs, mittens to local home-made soaps (as the ones you see in the photo). Even in the capital of Riga you can find pretty interesting stuff in these wooden housed markets. Next to the soaps (in the image above) you will see an odd but pretty  ring which was given to me as a present. The ring contains a nice big Amber stone, since Amber is very popular in those areas. Finally I got the Latvian scarf which is shown on the top of every picture. The pattern is pretty symbolic with Latvia and they are very much in fashion right now.

Duty Free

Last but not least, I got this lovely perfume by Moschino with some other yummy stuff at the Duty free. It was a real pity that I didn’t have more time in my hands, when I left Riga. Since there are some nice shops to see and at very decent prices. I simple love how you can find a variety of local brands but also Polish, Lithuanian, German and Russian brands. Pretty cool.

Well that is all for my pretty big Haul from my Holiday in Riga, I did stock up on everyday stuff that will last me for half if not the whole year. So thank you Riga for being so affordable and filled with beautiful things, I will definitely visit again.

I hope you like my post :D, please show some love by following my blog and liking my Facebook page

L’Oreal Extra Volume Collagen in Black

Hey guys,

It been a while since I reviewed a mascara, because I tried to use the ones I already have so they don’t dry out. This is the latest mascara I bought and I am definitely looking to update my mascara collection. I have always been in love with L’Oreal mascaras since I was a teenager. They always made my lashes look long and with a lot of volume. I have quite average long lashes but with the L’Oreal mascaras, some people even thought I had fake lashes on, because they were looking so big.

20130731_210755

So I went to my local pharmacy and bought a L’Oreal Mascara, this time it was the Extra Volume Collagen. When I saw the title “Extra Volume” and the thick brush it has, I was immediately bought. It cost me about 16 euros, a bit expensive for a drugstore brand but I didn’t mind as I knew for sure I would get immediate results. I loved it’s black sleek packaging, reminds me of some of the high end mascara’s.

20130731_210822

Overall I like this Mascara, I am not in love with it but I do like it. To be honest I was expecting more Volume than the other Mascaras I have tried from L’Oreal. It does give some volume and I love that separates the lashes. This mascara is very dense and can be gloppy when you start a new tube of it. The brush is very fluffy so a lot of product is dispensed on the brush when you pull it out of the tube. In order to avoid too much product, scrape the side of the wand on the inside when you are pulling the wand out and it gives you a clean side of the brush to work with.

20130731_211009

This mascara takes a practiced hand and isn’t ideal for someone new to applying mascara. It wears well, does not flake off and I like that it can be easily removed with cleanser and water, and a bit of eye makeup remover afterwards.

Overall it is a good mascara and I do recommend it to you guys, but don’t expect extra-volume. Well that is for now guys, Keep posted fore more reviews and make-up looks

Colourful Eyeliner – Make-up Look

Hey guys,

I hope you are having a great weekend so far. Today I am going to share with you another great look for this Summer. I’ve seen this look on the catwalk and even on photo-shoots, I love that make-up artists are experimenting with new techniques and colors. The eyeliner has also been transformed from the usual black winged eyeliner to a more colorful design. This look is very simple but yet effective. I wore this look for a bbq, but can be also worn for various occasions. However I do suggest you wear this look in the morning/afternoon, because the colors look great in full light.

1

For my look I used 2 colors, a nice teal blue with a dark purple. I still applied a black eyeliner underneath to outline my eyes. So that the eye-shadow stays put make sure you apply concealer or a primer.

3

For this look I used E.L.F 100 palette eye-shadows, and not colored eyeliners. I used the same eye-shadows on top and under my lower lashes.2

I do hope you like this look, if you have any questions please comment down below. 🙂

Thank you for following and keep posted for more

Subtle Pink – Make-up Look

Hey guys,

So about 2 weeks ago, I went to the Isle of MTV and I wore this pink make-up look, which I grew fond of. I have to admit I am not a pinky person when it comes to eye-shadows but in Summer I do like to experiment with colors.  So get ready for some colorful make-up looks :).

P1

For this look I used 2 main palettes, the e.l.f 100 shades palette and the Fraulein 38. This is the list of products and step by step instructions:

P4

  1. First I applied a thin layer of concealer using the Make up store covering cover all concealer.
  2. Then I used a matte white colour from the Fraulein neutral palette and applied it under my brows and on the inner corner of my lid.
  3. On the middle of my lid I used a bronze colour and blended it with a light pink colour.
  4. For the crease I used a brown colour and applied a vibrant pink on the inner corner of my eyes.
  5. Finally I applied the maybelline gel liner and Loreal Mascara.
  6. As for the lips I used the MAC Viva glam by Nicky and for the cheeks the Marbert pink blusher and elf bronzer st.lucia.

P2

This look is perfect for a casual night out or a bbq or even lunch date. I do hope you like this look, keep posted for more and thank you for following.

Let me know in the Comment section if you would you wear this look. 🙂

Outfit and Make-up of the Week

Hey guys,
Yesterday I had a lovely school Reunion dinner with my ex class mates from the Institute of Art and Design and I thought I show you the outfit I wore. I wanted to wear something which is both classy, elegant with a mixture of something fun and casual. I realized that recently I have a lot black and gold tops and t-shirts. I like the mixture between something bright and something dark.

I love the mixture of something bright and something dark

Outfit:

  • Gold and Black top -Tesco
  • Black cardigan -Tesco
  • Trousers – Dorothy Perkins
  • Shoes – Dorothy Perkins
  • Jewelry – Promod and Peacocks

When it comes to make-up, I basically matched it to my clothes, which is gold and black. However I still added some other colors to the mix like yellow and beige.  As for the lips I wore a lovely light pink from nyx.

Confessions of a Beauty Blogger

Hey guys,

So I saw this post on many of the beauty bloggers that I follow and some told me that I should do it. So here I am 🙂

Skincare:

How many times you wash your face daily?

Once or twice

What skin type do you have?

Combination

What is your current facial wash?

I am still on the look out to be honest, however at the moment I am using Burt’s Bees facial cleanser.

DSC00336

Do you exfoliate?

Not really but after this post I will try to do so 🙂

What moisturizer are you using?

I have different ones, at times I used the Burt’s Bees Radiance night cream or the Cien 24hr moisturizer.

Do you use eye cream?

I do when I remember hehe, I am using the Burt’s Bees radiance eye cream

Do you or did you have acne prone skin?

Not particularly but I do get pimples most of the times.

Makeup:

What foundation do you use?

I have so many, I don’t know which one I should talk about. However the best one I have is the Vichy Dermablend Corrective Concealer.

DSC00397 - Copy

How about concealer?

I have also a lot of concealers hehe for everday I usually use the Rimmel hide the blemish or w7 kit, for an evening out I use the Make up store concealer.

Do you know your undertone colour?

Warm Neutral undertone

What do you think of fake eyelashes?

I like them if they are appropriate, look natural and do not hide your eyes. I don’t like huge lashes on someone for a simple night out, huge can only be used in fashion photo-shoots. They are not flattering if they look very fake on you, but if they are natural looking and give you that extra volume, than why not ?

What brand of mascara do you use?

I have so many but my favorite at the moment is the Pupa Diva lashes-

Pupa mascara

Pupa mascara

Sephora or MAC?

I cannot say because I never tried sephora but I have tried mac and they are pretty good.

Do you have a MAC Pro-card?

No

Do you use makeup base/primer for the eyes.

Yes.

For the face?

Yes I have plenty from missha to inglot and even e.l.f

What is your favorite eyeshadow? (colour or shade?)

You can never go wrong with black and lately I am obsessed with metallic colours like gold and blue.

Do you use pencil or liquid eyeliner?

Both but I prefer liquid

What’s your favorite lipstick?

I love my NYX spellbound lipstick super pinky 🙂

Do you like drugstore makeup?

Yes.

Did you ever consider taking makeup classes?

Yes I do

Name a makeup crime that you hate?

There are so many, it’s hard to mention one. Basically I hate anyone that puts on too much make up and hides their real natural beauty. Make up is there to enhance your beauty and not to hide it.  I also hate big and heavy fake lashes that hide your beautiful eyes

Which celebrity always has great makeup?

I am a beyonce fan but she is so naturally beautiful that she doesn’t need a lot of make up. However I have to say I like Kim Kardasian when it comes to make up. We have very similar style of makeup and she look’s a lot like me after all 😛 joking hehe

If you could leave the house using just one makeup item, what would you use?

This is though, mascara or eyeliner but probably eyeliner wins.

Could you ever leave the house without any makeup?

I think so. One I have done it at home I can leave without having any with me.

What do you think of makeup?

I love make up because it enhances your natural beauty but I find it to be a playful way to show your mood of the day. We all use clothing to show how we are feeling on that particular day, if it is something pretty, smart or sexy. The same goes with make up we can look pretty or sexy if we want to, thanks to make up.

Blogging:

How many hours a week do you spend writing/editing posts?

I have no idea hehe it depends on the posts. If it is just a review it will take me an hr maximum and if it was a make up look maybe 2hrs so probably 10hrs or more a week.

When is it easiest for you to blog?

Whenever I am free hehe Lately mostly in the evening after work or in the morning.

What makes writing behind the computer comfortable for you?

Because I am so used to being behind a computer especially when I was studying and I love that I can edit and arrange if I did some mistakes

How long does it take for you to prep a post?

It can be only an hr if it is just a review but as I said before for a make up look it would be 2hrs because I have to edit the photos in 1.

Who is a blogger that you read who deserves more readers?

Damn there are so many but probably Nicole from . I just love the make up looks she comes up with, always flawless.

That’s all for me 🙂 I hope this wasn’t boring for your to read

xoxo

L’OREAL – Studio Secrets professional primer review

Hello beautiful 🙂
First I would like to thank you all my fellow followers, I have reached about 28 followers. I am very happy to have so many followers and hopefully we’ll have more :). I am also open to your opinions about what would you like me to talk about or what look would you like me to try. I am planning many various make up looks that you can try yourselves at home.

DSC00827

So lets talk about the new l’oreal studio secrets profession primer. I have to say it is a good primer. The good thing about the primer is that it has a very nice moisture and it spreads smoothly across the skin. The skin feels great at first very soft but it kind of fades away. What I liked was the smooth feeling it left when I applied my foundation but I felt look-wise it didn’t do a difference. My face still looked the same.

DSC00835

L’oreal say:

” This primer masks wrinkles and uneven textures in the skin, making the complexion incredibly smooth with a velvety touch. Skin feels soft as if resurfaced. The high elastomer content in the Smoothing Primer means that it has a beautifully smooth texture and is incredibly effective at disguising wrinkles and pores. The combination of soft, light powders gives a matte look and a silky finish.”

It says that it disguised wrinkles and pores. I don’t have wrinkles but I definitely have pores and it didn’t disguise anything. My face looked pretty much the same. It feels very soft like having a long lasting moisturizer but other than that my face looked pretty much the same. However it does give me a very soft skin and it makes it very easy for me to apply any foundation.

DSC00837The other thing I am not really fond of is the products packaging. The jar makes it a bit difficult for me to apply it on my face because I have to dip my finger into the product, because you cannot apply it with a brush because of it marshmallowy texture. Other than that It is a good primer but not my favorite and it is quite pricey. I honestly forgot how much I bought it but I think they are sold for about 12euros, which is quite pricey considering it is a very small jar.

This after all is my personal opinion of this product. I know some love it and some hate it. I believe it has good qualities because it leaves my face moisturized in some way and very soft but it doesn’t diminish any pores or wrinkles.

I hope you found this post helpful, feel free to comment and tell me what you think 🙂

Makeup collaboration – 50’s pinup style

Hello Beautiful women,
Today we are very happy to present a make-up collaboration between Sarah-Jane from Make-up by Sarah-Jane and Nicole from Nicole’s Beauty Blog. We are both beauty bloggers, passionately in love with make-up and because of our similar taste we thought of doing collaboration and show our make-up tricks by following the same theme. We chose to do a 50’s pin up style theme, where each one of us will show you our own take on this theme.

Sarah-Jane:
I am very happy to do this theme because it is a style I like very much and have been doing this type of make-up for a while now. 50’s pin up was all about heavy eyeliner, long lashes and red lips. They didn’t have the products we have nowadays so they eye-shadow was very simple, and they focused mostly on the lips.

image

1. So first of all I used base colours like whites and beige from the e.l.f palette. (I do suggest you use a concealer before you apply the base colours to last longer)
2. Secondly I use a medium darkness shade of brown from the e.l.f palette and applied it on the inner crease and outer lid of the eye.
3. Then I applied heavy catlike eyeliner using the e.l.f cream eyeliner.
4. Finished off by applying some fake eyelashes to complete the look.
5. Finally I applied some red lipstick using my favourite loreal serum red lipstick.
It is a very easy look to do, and to pull off. I also tried to style my hair pin up style give the full effect of the theme.

Nicole:
Pin up inspired makeup is one of my favorite style to do and has recently become my go-to look! This particular style requires minimal products and it’s super quick and easy to create! A pin up look is all about the statement lip and the fabulous lashes, which everybody, regardless skin tone, can pull of!

image (3)

1. Start by prime the eyelid and apply a white eyeshadow in the inner corner of the eye.
2. Apply a creamy/white eyeshadow to the rest of the lid.
3. With a blending brush, apply a skin toned or taupe colored eyeshadow in the crease and blend!
4. Start to define the crease, using a dark brown eyeshadow. To add some further depth to the look, apply a black eyeshadow to the crease and blend well!
5. Create a thick winged eyeliner and apply some false lashes.

My makeup look is slightly more dramatic than Sarah-Jane’s, but it’s a pretty look to wear on a night out! On my lips I am wearing my beloved Ruby Woo by MAC and of course I had to add a fake maul for this theme, just for some fun! 🙂
