NYX – Box of Eyeshadows 112 colours

Being a makeupholic, I am always interested in trying out new pigments and new products. If anyone would ask me what make-up product I like the most, it would probably be eye-shadows. I probably have more than 10 eye-shadow palettes and believe me they are not enough.  Why I like eye-shadows so much? It is probably because I am an artist, I used to paint using acrylics and without the different colours you wouldn’t create Art basically. The same goes to make-up, different eye-shadows can truly create some beautiful Art.

When NYX opened in Malta I truly wanted to test out some of their eye-shadows, and I was impressed by the few I got to try out that I went ahead and bought this extensive palette. Compared to the pricing, they have some good quality pigmentation. The packaging is very sleek in black; it also comes with an applicator and mirror which I rarely use. It has two compartments; the upper one has the natural colours from light to dark natural colours like white, black and brown. Then you can slide the bottom compartment and you will find a range of vibrant colours from Pink, yellow, blue and orange.

It is very useful to travel with, I basically take it to most photo-shoots, and it has become truly indispensable. This beauty retails, for about €34, which is a fairly good price for such a good quality palette.

Pros:

  • Nice sleek and sturdy packaging – great for travelling
  • Great pigmentation
  • Easy to use and blend
  • Decent pricing

Cons:

  • The only thing I’m not too fond of is that I do get some fallout. Being that its powder it’s pretty normal, but I do believe it should have less.
  • One thing that annoys me is that the highlights, medium tones and dark tones are scattered in the palette, I would have preferred if they were in order like the Elf Palettes for example.

Will I ever buy this product again? I probably will, it might not be the best eye-shadow palette but i find it very handy and the eye-shadows are pretty pigmented.

Do I recommend it? Definitely, if you like to have a variety of eye-shadow and don’t want to spend a lot of money, this is a good medium.

Halloween- Ghost – Make-Up Look

Hello guys,

I am back :), finally after months being away from this blog, I have time again to start writing some posts for you :). Halloween is coming up, isn’t that exciting? 😀 I think its the best opportunity we get, to be creative with make-up and costumes. This year I should be a having a Halloween photo-shoot which I will post once published, for which I might be using this make-up look, not on myself but on other models. The look is basically a scary Ghost inspired from various movies, like the Ring, Mamma, the Grudge. It is a very easy look to do, all you need is a ton amount of patience and the right products.

1

Below you will find my instructions of how to create such a look:

1. The first thing you should do when creating this look is apply a primer. Chose an adequate for your skin type. If you have redness use a primer that will hide the redness so that it won’t show even after applying foundation.

2. Apply a very white foundation, it doesn’t need to be a very pale white, just choose a two shade lighter foundation. I’ve seen make-up artists over do it with the white foundation and instead of looking artistic it ends up showing that it’s just a pasty make-up.  You want to make it as real as possible, that it scares people out :D.

3. Then we can start on with the eyeshadow. For this look all you need are black and red colours (elf palette). I started off by using a black eyeshadow and marked the area around my eye, then followed with a black matte gel liner (WetnWild) and topped it all over the shadow. It’s hard to created a very dark black circle using just eyeshadow, which is why you need a gel liner to get it as dark as possible. In order for the look to be more “natural” i blended the black outwards. Further on I applied and blended the red eyeshadow with the black shadow under my eyes, and finally created some crack lines with a liquid liner.

3

4. Finally I applied some black shadow to highlight my cheek bones, on my inner lips and even around my nose.

5. I also suggest backcombing your hair to create a scary hairstyle and wear a black or white dress, and be ready to scare some people for Halloween :D.

2

I hope you enjoyed this look as much as I did doing it, if you try this look make sure to tag me so that I can see it. Show some love by sharing this post with your family and friends

Happy Halloween Everyone

NYX Stay Matte but not Flat Powder Foundation

My intent to purchase this powder was based on the mixed reviews I have been reading about it, apart from the actual need of a powder myself. After using it for a couple of months I completely understand why some love it and some don’t. I have honestly loved this powder because it is perfect for my oily t-zone, it has a lovely finish and stays on for quite a while.

http://cdn3.volusion.com/ndryf.tsvno/v/vspfiles/photos/NYX-SMP-2.jpg

The reason behind the bad reviews is because people try to use it as a foundation, which I completely understand being that it’s said to be a powder foundation. This is not a foundation but just a setting powder, and you need to apply a foundation underneath or else it won’t stay on your face for a long time. I bought it in the natural colour, which matches my skin colour perfectly, especially in winter. I still use it in summer especially under my eye over my concealer.

http://orbloom.files.wordpress.com/2012/10/dsc003733.jpg

I wish to excuse myself for not providing my own images for this product but being that I have used this powder a lot, it’s not in the best shape so here are some images taken from the net.

I am a huge fan of this powder, I carry it with me everywhere it’s probably the best powder the price it sells for which is similar to that of any drugstore brand. The texture is fine and silky, great for oily skin, but it you are super oily I would go for something different, because it has a medium coverage. However if you have a normal combination skin, this is perfect.
The packaging is lovely, durable, very sleek and MAC looking; the only think that is a bit annoying is the tiny little plastic tab that you have to use to get the sponge compartment. But other than it’s definitely a must have.
Pros:

  • Sleek, durable packaging
  • Formula with medium coverage, fine and silky
  • Long lasting
  • Good Pricing

Cons:

  • The lid for the sponge compartment to tiny to open

Will I ever buy this product again? I will for sure, being that it’s soon coming to an end (because I use it every day), I need a couple more of these.
Do I recommend it? Definitely, it’s a good quality product, and perfect for anyone with a combination skin.

Planter’s – Now in Malta – Young and Natural Aloe Vera Repairing Cream

Hello beauty readers,

Planter’s Cosmetica Naturale is now available in Malta. How great is that? If you don’t know about Planter’s you are about to be lectured. Planter’s is an Italian cosmetic company which works to create products that are eco-friendly, made only from natural ingredients, safe on skin and most importantly not tested on animals.

P3

Most of their product is made from Aloe Vera and Sweet almond. I have been familiar with Aloe Vera  for quite a while and I am very impressed by its healing nutrients.  On the other hand, sweet almond is also known and used to smoothen and soften the skin. I was lucky enough my get my hands on the Aloe Vera Repairing Cream, thanks to the Planter’s cosmetics in Malta. The packaging is really cool; I simple love the graphic design on each tin, which varies in different patterns and colours.

P1

Now as about the cream itself, it is instantly absorbed into the skin and little goes a long way. I have to confess something, I am really at taking care of my skin, I always forget to put lotions on, except for the weekend. However a great way for me to actually start using hand creams, was taking them at work with me. My hands and elbows for a fact are always very dry and flaky, and since I started applying this cream on me, it really worked wonders.  Apart from that my colleague recently had a sun burn and her face was very dry, she was asking if we had any lotion, and I saved the day with the Repairing cream.  She truly loved the lotion, it really helped her dry skin from one application, and it was smooth back again.  Apart from that the smell is very pleasant, it’s hard to recognize but it reminds me to that of a coconut.  It also can be used on all skin types including men and children.

P2

These beauties contain 75ml of product and it costs €6.50 only, and if you want a larger size you can opt for the 150ml but it has regular tube packaging.

Pros:

  • Beautiful packaging,
  • It truly repairs the skin from dry it makes it soft
  • Very good affordable price
  • Perfect for any season from winter cracks to summer burns

Cons:

  • There are none, honestly and truly

P4

Will I ever buy this product again? Probably, I have been relying a lot on this cream recently, so I will probably repurchase it.

Do I recommend it? For sure, this cream is a must have. I carry it around with me everywhere especially now in summer when my skin feels really dry, and it’s great as an after sun cream. I suggest you give their website a look by clicking here.  You can also check out their Local (Malta) facebook page by clicking here and you will find Planter’s at all leading pharmacies on the Maltese Islands and selected salons.

Make-Up Look – Malta Fashion Awards 2014

Hello guys,

As promised,  today I want to show you the make-up look and what I wore for the Malta Fashion Awards. Unfortunately I do not have a picture of the outfit, but let me describe it. The outfit consisted of a black body con type dress with white and coral flowers and on top a black blazer, being that it was quite a chilly night.

MFA3

To match the dress, I wore this beautiful gold chain necklace with coral shaped flower and matching earrings, ring and bracelet.  Pastel colours are very much in this summer, so definitely be on the lookout. As for my nails, I used the Pupa Milano gel nail polish in a very similar shade as the accessories.

MFA2

Now let’s move on to the most important part which is the make-up. Being that it is the most fashionable night in Malta, I had to go all out, so I took my time and tried my best to create something great. I basically was inspired by the outfit itself and used a mixture of corals, gold and black colours.  Apart from applying the eyeshadow on the upper lid I also applied the coral colour under my lower lashes.

MFA1

I finished the look with some winged liner, mascara and of course some individual fake lashes for more of a dramatic effect.  This look is perfect for this spring and summer to come; it’s very dressy but still vibrant for the hot summer days which are yet to come. Finally I chose a light pink shade for the lips and even for the cheeks.

MFA4

List of Products:

  • MAC Prep and Prime primer
  • Vichy Dermablend foundation
  • Urban Decay Primer Potion Eden
  • NYX Eyeshadow Palette
  • MAC Gel liner
  • Rimmel Scandalous eyes Mascara
  • Ardell individual fake lashes
  • NARS Laguna blusher
  • NARS Deep Thought bronzer
  • MAC Viva Glam by Nicky

Well I hope you enjoyed this look and my post, please show some love by liking my page or following my blog. I do appreciate if you share my blog with your friends and family

Lots of Love

Malta Fashion Awards 2014

This has been one of the best Malta Fashion Weeks in history. I am glad that even though I didn’t get to be involved as much as I should have (partly being my fault), I still got to enjoy some of the most beautiful Maltese designs in one night, at the Awards show.

I was really unsure if to apply for the media pass or not, and when I decided to give it a go, it was too late. However after a great show last night, I am truly excited for the year to come.

The show was professionally executed,  and it was nice seeing such a high level standard of models, make-up artists and hairstylist which did a great job throughout the whole show. Some of the designs I have seen are worth international recognition and in the end I felt proud of what Malta has to offer.  Throughout the show their were various shows from renowned designers like Caroline Hili, Charles and Ron and Gagliardi to new designers and various hair stylist.

Being and Art and Design student myself, I was so Happy to see a lot of new Designers and Photographers that were either my class mates or in the same institute as I was. One of which was Rosemarie Abela which won best new designer with her Japanese inspired collection.  I also loved seeing new names in the Make-up world to which the Award went to Mateja Camilleri.  Apart from that I was happy to see a blogger fashion award to whom it went for the fashionista Daniel Azzoppardi.  There were of course other important awards to various male and female models, however being  a Make-up artist, beauty blogger and fashion lover, those are the awards which have definitely struck a cord.

Here are some images of the designs which I particularly liked throughout the show. There were many beautiful designs so I will not fit them all, however here are some: Photography by Fritz Photography Malta.

Well I hope you enjoyed this post, later on today or tomorrow I will post the Make-up look I did for the Awards show and what I wore.

Pupa Milano – Vamp! Mascara in Extra Black

Hello drear friends,

Recently I am simply loving what fake lashes can obtain. Being that they can be a pain to apply on one selves, I am always on the lookout for good mascara’s that do a really good job in giving the Volume I always crave for.  A long time ago I fell in love with Pupa’s Diva’s Lashes Mascara which I still love to this day, but Pupa still find a way to create better and great products. Pupa’s new mascara called Vamp!, is quite a good competitor. I recently reviewed the same mascara but in a different colour and from the Pupa Princess Collection which you can view here. I got a small sample of the Vamp mascara in Extra Black and I really like it so far. Being that is was a sample it dried pretty easily and I felt that I might not actually get the full qualities of such a mascara, which is why I plan to buy the actual product,

VB2

What amazes me about this product is the formula, I never in my life had a mascara which was so light weight, that it felt like I didn’t wear any. Not sure if this ever happened to you, but there were times were I go to work and seriously forget to wear mascara. I know it crazy but it happened, which is why I always leave a mascara in my handbag. Last time as I was working I touched my lashes, and I thought I did it again and forgot to apply it, but then I looked at the mirror I was surprised I had actually mascara on and it was the Vamp Mascara.

VB3

It also has a beautiful hour-glass shape wand and that works wonderfully, it separates the lashes and gives them a nice volume. Due to it’s dense formula there are minor smudging or flaking and it lasts for a long time. The packaging is sleek and like the other Vamp mascara but this one in silver rather than gold.  I like this mascara overall even-though I would have wished it curled my lashes, to give the lashes a full out effect but I can’t really complain.

VB1

Pros:

  • The creamy and dense formula that doesn’t weight the lashes down
  • Beautiful sleek silver packaging
  • hourglass-shaped brush, make application super easy
  • provides a nice amount of volume
  • wands separates lashes
  • Long-lasting, minor smudging or flaking

Cons:

  • Doesn’t curl my lashes or lenghten

Will I ever buy this product again? Probably, I find it very useful when I want a very light make-up look and my lashes not to feel to heavy with mascara.

Do I recommend it? Definitely, I think this is perfect especially for those that are a bit mature. My mum hates having the feel of a mascara because it can be very heavy on her eyes, which is why I used this mascara on her, she barely feels it on.

Rating: I am giving it a 4 by 5 for it’s light formula

Have you ever tried this mascara, if yes tell me know your opinion down below.

Fallen Angel – Make-up shoot

Hello lovely followers,

A month ago I had the opportunity to work with an amazing French Photographer Eva Ferriere. She wanted me to do a make-up for a “Fallen Angel” theme photo-shoot she had in mind. I was super excited to work on this shoot, being that I would let out my artistic skills.  The look I did was inspired by the gorgeous costume we had for the shoot, by Fabian Galea -PR for the Bugeja Costume Company in Gozo.

I did a couple of sketches as you can see below and let Eva decide which one she liked best. The final look is a bit dramatic but still has a certain elegance and flair to it. Basically it’s a mixture between dark and light, good and evil.

Sometimes in a fallen angel theme, it tends to be very dark and goth. I wanted something complete different, because even though she is fallen, there is an element of good in her.

The look consists of a golden brown mixture of eye-shadow which match the costume. Then I followed by applying the black liner creating a feather like effect, similar to the wings of an angel. Finally I applied some glitter liner in two colours gold and silver/green, these remind us of good element when combine with the dark black liner. Then added some final touches by adding small white rhinestones to  the edges of the feather-like-liner. The lips were left a little bit natural and a nice glow was given to the cheeks by using a pink blusher and highlighter.

Make1 make2

Check out some of the gorgeous photos by Eva  and the beautiful model Christine Zammit :

Overall I am really please with the final look, the images look great, and the make-up look really goes on well with the costume and backdrop.

Do feel free to contact me if you need me for a photo-shoot or any other special occasion. Let me know what you think about this look, would appreciate a thump up and like on facebook and do feel free to follow me through email.

MET GALA 2014 – Best Dressed

I could not let such an important event pass by without stating my opinion. It is after all the most important Event in fashion history and this years theme Charles James: Beyond Fashion and there was a mention of “decorations”. Charles James was an amazing designer back in the day, he was one of the firsts to design hot couture garments which were very dramatic, feminine and yet classy.  Let’s start with the best dressed of the night,  they are in no particular order so go ahead and pick your favorite.

Beyonce

Beyonce wore this beautiful shimmery and sheer black gown by Givenchy. What makes this dress unique is the fabric, it is simply devine, I personally didn’t like the peplum but other than than it is simply fantastic.

Beyonce looks flawless in a gorgeous black beaded Givenchy gown

Kim Kardashian

Finally Kim got it right in this beautiful blue and black Lanvin dress. Last year it was a disaster with that floral hilarious gown, so this year she definitely made up for it.  It truly hugged her curves in the write places without looking slutty. So well done Kim.

What happened in that limo ride? Kim Kardashian switched out her shoes and belt as she lost the leather cuffs en route to the Met Gala

Blake Lively

This Gucci dress on Blake’s Lively immaculate body looked exceptional. She looked like a true Hollywood star, the dress hair and make up screamed Hollywood. The dress hugs her beautiful body in all the right places that makes me insanely jealous of her. 😛

Striking: Blake Lively wore a champagne coloured sequined gown from Gucci

Rihanna

I don’t usually like what Rihanna wears but she definitely looked fabulous in this white Stella McCarthney dress. It highlights her caramel tones torso while still being elegant and chic.

Rihanna's sweeping statement gown featured a bold cut out which showed off her enviable stomach, but maintained an elegant overall look with long sleeves and an embellished high neck

Cara Delevigne

Cara is a young and vibrant model, so I wouldn’t have imagined anyone else to pull off this look. The outfit is also by Stella McCarthney and even though I wouldn’t have imagined it for the MET gala, with her body and well done hair and some nice jewelry she truly pulled it off.

Cara shows off her tiny frame in a gorgeous outfit by British designer Stella McCartney

Giselle Bunchen

I am in love with lace, so of course this Balenciaga dress is definitely one of my favorites. I think black on a light complexion looks flawless and sexy, so thumps up Giselle.

 Amber Heard

This Giambattista Valli dess looked gorgous on Amber, I do think she looked a bit pale with this dress but I can’t deny that it fits her to perfection.

Amber Heard looked stunning in a Giambattista Valli dress with Fred Leighton jewellery on the arm of fiance Johnny Depp who jazzed up his Ralph Lauren tux with a cane and golden pocket watch

There were many beautiful dress but these are the dresses that truly caught my attention. I will do another quick post of my least favorites and that shall be hilarious :P, so keep posted guys 🙂

Would love your opinion of what is your favorite dress

Bumble Bee – Artistic Make-Up look

Hello dears,

It has been a while since I posted a make-up look, and it’s not because I didn’t create anything new, it is because I have become lazy with taking photos and editing hehe. But I finally managed to get some work done in order to show you what I have been up to. Before I start talking about this look I would like to wish you all a Happy Easter :).

About a month ago or so in Malta we had the Carnival, it is widely celebrated here in Malta and everyone loves dressing up and be someone or something which they cannot actually be in real life. Even-though I love dressing up, I didn’t manage to do it this year however I loved helping my nieces look awesome on these celebrations.

b2

A look I wanted to show you is what I did on my niece Samira, she wore this cute bumble bee costume and she wanted me to do her make-up. (All this yellow remind me that it’s Easter hehe) Well being that she is just a child, I wanted to create something fun and artistic. I used mainly yellow eyeshadow then black liner and shadow to create a fur like effect.  This furr like effect I used it on her brows, on the crease and even on her cheeks.  Finally I applied a tiny bit of blusher and some glossy lips gloss.

b1

Overall I am really please with this look, I think she looked great and the make-up went on really well with her costume. This could be a great idea for you to try if you have costume party or on your next Halloween.

b3

I hope you enjoyed this post, and thank you for stopping by :). Show some love by liking my facebook page and following my blog trough e-mail, blog lovin or instagram
