Do it yourself: Manicure

M1Hello guys,

Well today post is a little bit different than usual, however it still has a lot to do with beauty. Recently my nails are a bit of a mess, and I honestly feel ashamed to have them looking so bad. My nails have never been thick, mostly because of my years of nail biting. It’s been 2 years since I stopped biting them and they have improved a lot, yet unfortunately they are still very thin and break very easily. Before the manicure my nails where all in different lengths, and they didn’t look one bit pretty. So I decided to give myself a manicure, and show you how to do it yourself. It is very easy just follow my steps.

M3

1 First step is to remove any bits of nail polish you might have left with a Nail polish remover. The one I used is from Kiko.

2 Second step is to dab your fingers into warm water for about 10 minutes. This will make your nails will be softer, which is ideal for when you need to file them.

M4

3 Next step is to file your nails, make sure to file them in one direction. The was my biggest mistake when I was younger I used to file them in both directions, which is why my nails are a mess. Also try to give them the same length.

4 Use a cuticle oil and apply and massage it one each nail, so that the nails will absorb it well. I used the Mavala Cuticle oil, it is seriously one of the best. Also if you have a cuticle remover ( not sure what it is actually called), push the cuticle inwards. Unfortunately I couldn’t find one so I used my nails instead.

M5

5 Step five I applied some hand lotion, and let the hand absorb it well. I have quite a selection of hand creme but I decided to use the Dr.Organic hand and nail cream, because it is very moisturizing and ideal for nails.

6 Before applying any sort of nail polish, I made sure to remove and moisturizer that there might have been on the nails. As it might not help with the application.

7 Apply any base coat or hardener depends on the state of your nails. Being that I need a nail hardener I applied the Sally Hanson Miracle nail thickener. Not sure if I like the hardener over my usual OPI Nail envy but I will give it a shot. If you don’t need a hardener just apply a base coat, then any coloured nail polish you wish and finally a top coat.  This will make your nail polish last longer.

Well that is all for today DIY manicure, I hope you enjoyed this post and you found it helpful. If you need any help feel free to ask. Try to find time for yourself and make sure you take care of yourselves.

Its A New Year :D

Hello guys,

I really hope you all had a fabulous New Years Even and a great start to the New Year . Mine was was pretty good, I have a great New Year Eve with my best friends and a lovely relaxing New year day with my family.

Last year I made 3 beauty resolutions which were to take care more of skin, stop biting my nails and take care of my teeth.  Funnily enough I actually succeeded in all of my resolutions.  I stopped biting my nails and they are in their best shape ever, I also make it a point to clean my skin and take care of it as much as I can. Finally I also too care of my teeth and went to a dentist for about 3 times this year which was a huge improvement.

For this new year I will only do two resolutions which is to be healthier and more fit and also make sure to always look my best. Looking your best isn’t superficial or high maintenance, it’s a way to remind yourself how beautiful you truly are, which in the end will make you feel a lot better with yourself. When I look good, I feel great on the inside, no matter what things you might be going trough, it will make you feel better.  I think this is a resolution that every person should make and hopefully keep it. That is the thing that I truly love about make-up is that it can make you feel like your worth a million bucks, which will in the end give you more confidence and you will be able to go through anything.

I think I have mentioned a lot of times, how this blog has really helped me mentally and physically, and it’s true. I gave given so much to this blog and it has rewarded back. However this year I want to focus more on my health, I won’t be as active as much as I used to be on this blog. Being that I work full time and have a lot of commitments going on, it can be really hard for me to make time for everything. I will still post as much I can, but don’t worry if I will be a bit M.I.A here and there, I love this blog too much to let it go :D. Right now my number one priority is to get healthier, I have seen what being unhealthy can cause and it’s not pretty.

I think this new year has been really a gift for myself, to entirely focus on me. Being single will help me focus on myself and have more time to work hard on getting in better shape.  Last year I made the same resolution and I’ve gotten way healthier, I lost weight  but not enough to be at the healthiest weight, but I will get there this year. It was quite a tough year because as I was trying to have a healthy lifestyle a lot of things were going on in my life,  one of them which was my breakup with my then boyfriend.

With all of the bad, there was a lot of good happening last year. First of all my awesome friends, which have supported me trough anything, I don’t know what I would do without you guys. Also my blog getting its own domain and a lot of heart whelming support from you readers.

This post was a little different than my usual posts, and a little bit personal but I know it will get some good response. If you are really determined to get something done or changed in your life this is the time. I know they say, that the chances are you wont actually do what u u promised yourself to do, on the new year. But guess what, u can actually be the change  of that saying. I have actually succeeded in all of resolutions and so can you, you just have to believe in yourselves and be determined.:) Nothing comes easy you have to work for it, but nothing is impossible.

Lots of Love

XOXO

Nail Care

Hey guys,

So recently I read a post on the daily mail how gels and acrylics can be harming your nails constantly, which is true. They might look pretty on the surface, but underneath your nails are probably suffering.  My nails were a mess when I removed my acrylics, they were chipping all the time and they had become very sensitive. My nails were so thin, I could almost feel the skin underneath.  Then I started taking care of nails, once I removed the acrylics and did a lot of treatment and stopped biting them. I was always a nail biter so gels and acrylics were my only remedy for me to stop biting them, but all i was doing is harming them even more.

N1

After a lot of treatment my nails have gotten way better, they still need a lot of help and more treatment, but I am very happy with them right now. I never seen my natural nails this long and looking so healthy, so the treatment really payed off.

Tips to get healthier stronger nails:

  • If you are a nail biter, Stop biting your nails, if i did it, so can you.
  • My nails are way healthier thanks to the O.P.I nail envy, it is really a miracle worker. I apply several coats throughout the week.
  • Do not result to gels or acrylics, is it such a waste of money. Nowadays there are very good nail polishes or even gelish that last for a whole week, and not do any harm to the nails. If you have strong and hard nails, go ahead but still it will damage your nails on the long run. Or else get them done one in while
  • I do highly suggest you stop wear nail polish from time to time if you have thin nails, let them breathe for a while. I love wearing nail polishes but then I stop wearing any, for a week or two and give them a nice Nail Envy coat.
  • Make sure to give them a nice filing and buffing, at least once a week or 2 and use cuticle oil if u have.

If you follow these steps and be extremly patient you will have great results in about 2 or 3 weeks. It took me a while to see the results, but it was all worth it.

I hope this was of any help, if you have any further questions, comment down below 🙂

OPI Nail Envy Review

Hello lovely people,

I have been using the OPI nail envy hardener for over a month and I really wanted to tested it out before I give you an honest review about it. I have been a nail biter for most of my life but this yeah I kept to my beauty resolution and stopped biting my nails. I have also been doing gels on them last year so they were really damaged.

DSC00390

I have tried a couple of nail products but failed to impress me because my nails remained fairly thin and damaged. I was suggested to try the OPI nail envy by another beauty blogger   and went on an bought it along with the OPI top coat. When started applying it on my nails I noticed that my nails weren’t chipping anymore which was a great start. My nails were still a bit damanged but after a week or 2 my nails started to look far healthier and slowly getting harder.

DSC00385

It took a while, but I was seeing results finally, unlike some other cheaper hardeners I have bought from other brands. My nails are far healthier now but they still need some more time and nail envy to get better. I recently stopped applying because I wanted to experiment with different nail polish colours. But when I’ll feel to give them some rest will definitely apply the nail envy again.

Before and after:

BeforeDSC00763

I bought the nail envy and the top coat for £14 on ebay which is fairly cheap as they usually sell for about 10euros each as far as I know. You also have about 15ml which is a nice amount and the bottle lasts for a long time considering you put a layer on each day.

Even though my nails still need treatment, I definitely seen a huge improvement since purchasing nail envy. My nails where in the worst shape and now they are finally breathing. Will definitely keep you posted with further improvement.

Nail Rescue

Hey guys,
So as some of you might already know I stopped doing gels and acrylics to my nails and right now they are a complete disaster. I spent a lot of money on nail products to really help my damaged nails but I felt they still resulted to nothing except some of the product. I have tired the Revlon nail rescue and even a Maybelline straightener but they haven’t done much of a difference. Some of my nails are still very thin and they break a lot. So I asked for some help from another beauty blogger Lorraine from Lola love sparkles, which is also a nail technician which you can follow here. She gave me some great tips which I am going to share with you and some products suggested by her that I bought.

DSC00386

As you can see from the picture above my nails were a complete mess, some where short some well long and some in between. So the first thing I did was to file them and then buff them with a buffer.

DSC00388DSC00384

Then I applied my new OPI nail envy straightener than I bought from e-bay including the top coat which I will definitely use in the future. The instruction manual says to apply first 2 coats and then apply a coat each day for a week. Then you remove it and you do the same thing all over again. I am really hoping it will do miracles and if it does I will let you know.

DSC00385DSC00390 DSC00394

I also was instructed to move my cuticles backwards an use a cuticle oil which I have bought a whilte ago, the Mavala cuticle oil that I have reviewed before.

DSC00891

Finally many have suggested I take vitamin pills for the nails, so I went to the Holland and Barrett shop that is close by and bought these Perfectil pills. There is the normal pack and the dual pack that I bought, it should give extra protection to the skin.I had them for about a week and It may be doing a difference but I really can’t tell at the moment. Many have told me that they are great but I have not personal proof yet.

So this is my Nail Rescue at the moment, will let you know how my nails are doing after a while, and if there is any improvement. Thank you all for following, keep posted for more 🙂

Nail Care

Hey guys,
I hope you had a fabulous start to your new year 🙂 and hopefully made resolutions that you will really keep this year. My beauty resolution will be to take care more of my skin, teeth and my nails.

I always had short nails because I used to bite them a lot but I am finally slowly stopping and taking care of them more. I always wanted to have beautiful long nails but because I used to bite them a lot, over the years they have become very thin and they chip a lot. This last year I have been doing a lot of fake nails using gels and acrylics. It helped me to stop biting my nails but having fake nails doesn’t help your natural nails as they become even thinner.

When I started working, I couldn’t go to my nail lady anymore because I work long hours and she wasn’t available when I am free. So i decided to stop doing them and instead invest on some nail product to take care of my natural nails. When I removed my acrylics most of the nails were chipped, and they were very thin.

DSC00882

I filed my nails and used a buffer from the kiss collection. Then I bought a post trauma nail treatment by Revlon which I love for many reason. I don’t know if it is really hardening my nails but it is definitely helping to remove the ridges I had when I removed my fake nails. You can use this as a base coat too even though It looks really lovely on it own natural matte pink color. I do recommend it to anyone that needs healthier nails.

DSC00883

Then I also bought a top and base coat for my nails, yet it really doesn’t need any with the nail treatment. It is definitely a good top and base coat. Even though it takes a while to dry but other than that its ok.

DSC00887

Last but not least I bought this cuticle oil from Mavala. It is a bit expensive as I bought it for about 9 euros but it worth the price, because after all you don’t need to use a lot of product. It smooths the cuticles and it absorbs quickly which is definitely a plus. It should also help my nails to grow but I haven’t seen any change so far but will let you know further on how my nails will be doing.

This is the result so far:

That’s all for now,

xoxo
