My Latvian Beauty Haul <3

Hello dear readers,

I hope you liked my previous post, where I mentioned the best places to shop should you visit Latvia or even the Baltic region. Since most shops are available in all of the Baltic countries, and not only in Latvia. I would suggest you read the post before you keep reading this one, so you get a sense of what the shops are about. But if you are looking to see some goodies keep on scowling down.

So let’s starts amd show you all of the products I bought from all of these Latvian¬†shops. ūüėÄ

Drogas

Since Drogas have all the products you need, for hair, face and body at a cheap price, I did buy quite a lot of stuff. Here’s the list below:

  • 5 Lipstick shades from Fennel a cosmetic company from Thailand. They were discounted to 1 to 2 approx euros each.
  • Wellness & Beauty by Rossmann – Tea Extract and Olive – body oil. A Polish company which provide this range of body oils and much more.
  • Natura Siberica – Loves Latvija – Body scrub. It is a Russian Organic brand based in Siberia, which have a variety of skin and body care collections and one is dedicated to it’s neighbour of Latvia.
  • Amie Naturally kind- Skin care- Morning Clear Purifying Facial wash – Got it at discount for approx 3 euros ūüėÄ
  • L’Oreal Evital – Heat protector on coloured hair – Since the one I currently use by Tresemme is running out, I needed a replacement.
  • Body Butter and Body Scrub by Superdrug – These were on offer for just 1.30euros each, and they are just as good as the body butter from the Body shop.
  • L’Oreal Nutri Gold Face Oil and Moisturizer – Since my face was getting pretty dry I thought I should try these out.
  • L’Oreal Mascara and SkinPerfection Micellar Water- to clean my face from all the make-up I put on.
  • Golden Rose – Long-stay Matte Foundation… can’t wait to test it out ūüėÄ
  • Beauty FormulaCharcoal Clay Mask-I heard pretty good things about the mask and they were not lying. Review coming up.

Stenders

From this awesome shop I got the shower gel and creamy body scrub in cranberry. I also got a pieces of soap from their enormous collection, forgot the name but I simple love the smell. It also left the lovely aroma on all of my clothes, since it was in my luggage. Finally I was given a cute travel set to try their shampoo and conditioner, by my lovely Latvian friend. Even if im dieing to try them out, I want to wait a bit, since they contain such nice memeories.

Dzintars

From the Latvian skin care range of Dzintars I only got their lipbalms, the green one is the original while the orange one is a new range. It is all written in latvian so cannot say what is the difference between them. But I like the most the orange one since it has a nice fruity smell.

Rituals

The Dutch brand of Rituals¬†recently launched the collection called¬†the Ritual of Sakura, from which I got the body mist, body lotions and shower gel. The cool thing about the shower gel is that it comes out as foam, and you¬†don’t need a large amount since its spreads. ¬†Can’t wait to pamper myself with them.

Street Markets

In most cities of Latvia you will find street markets, especially in Christmas time. One day I went to Jurmala, a lovely city next to the Beach. There you can find shops and also cute street markets, where you can find anything from scarfs, mittens to local home-made soaps (as the ones you see in the photo). Even in the capital of Riga you can find pretty interesting stuff in these wooden housed markets. Next to the soaps (in the image above) you will see an odd but pretty  ring which was given to me as a present. The ring contains a nice big Amber stone, since Amber is very popular in those areas. Finally I got the Latvian scarf which is shown on the top of every picture. The pattern is pretty symbolic with Latvia and they are very much in fashion right now.

Duty Free

Last but not least, I got this lovely perfume by Moschino with some other yummy stuff at the Duty free. It was a real pity that I didn’t have more time in my hands, when I left Riga. Since there are some nice shops to¬†see and at very decent prices. I simple love how you can find a variety of local brands but also Polish, Lithuanian, German and Russian brands. Pretty cool.

Well that is all for my pretty big Haul from my Holiday in Riga, I did stock up on everyday stuff that will last me for half if not the whole year. So thank you Riga for being so affordable and filled with beautiful things, I will definitely visit again.

I hope you like my post :D, please show some love by following my blog and liking my Facebook page

Bio Oil – Review

Today I want to talk about a product I’ve been using a lot and sincerely loving. Since I was a teenager I had problems with stretchmarks, the same way I had problems with my weight. I constatly gained and lost weight and stretch marks were the result of it all. ¬†Recently I’ve been taking care of my body and trying to avoid having more stretchmarks than I already do, so I am using this Bio Oil.

Bio1

I bought Bio Oil from the Uk the first time and I they are way cheaper than here in Malta, however it depends where you get them from and how much product you have. I do know that Holland and Barret sell them however I am not sure about the pricing. I will check and update you guys.

“Bio‚ÄĎOil is a specialist skincare oil that helps improve the appearance of scars, stretch marks and uneven skin tone.
It is also effective for ageing and dehydrated skin.¬†The Bio‚ÄĎOil formulation is a combination of plant extracts and vitamins suspended in an oil base. It contains the breakthrough ingredient PurCellin Oil?, which changes the formulation?s overall consistency, making it light and non-greasy, ensuring that the goodness contained in the vitamins and plant extracts is easily absorbed.”

Bio-Oil should be massaged in a circular motion into the scar and surrounding skin, twice daily, for a minimum of 3 months. Younger scars have a greater chance of improvement within a shorter time period, however, older scars will also benefit from the regular use of Bio-Oil.

Bio2

I have been using Bio Oil for the last 2 months or so and I’ve seen a huge improvement. The scars haven’t completely gone but more of the scars have faded away. I will keep on applying in the hopes of having other scars fade and be less visible especially in summer.¬†The oil is transparent and it is absorbed quickly onto the skin.I highly recommend this product for stretch marks as it truly does the work and it’s not that expensive as some other products I’ve seen on the market.

Bio3

We all know that Pregnancy can cause stretchmarks, however if you are planning on losing weight and you have increased your fitness level try to apply this sort of oil to preserve the skin and prevent it from causing stretchmarks.

If you have any questions about this product do write in the comments below, show some love by liking my page and following this blog ūüėÄ

NYX- Za Za Zu Mascara

Hello guys,

Since NYX opened in Malta I have been loving all of the products I bought and given. As I am always on the look for a new mascara to fall in love with and when I saw this mascara with its huge wand, I knew I had to have it ¬†however it failed to impress :(. I really don’t like giving bad reviews about products but unfortunately this has to be one of them. I am always 100% honest in my reviews and if I don’t like a product I wouldn’t want others to waste their money on products that aren’t so good.

Z4

Z2

Pros:

  • The mascara comes in a ¬†nice black sleek packaging
  • I love the brush, it’s big and thick and I imagine with a good formula it will give gorgeous lashes.
  • A good way I found to use this mascara is as a primer, you apply it first to give it that slight thickness than apply another good mascara for the final result.

Z3

Cons:

  • The formula just does nothing for me, it doesn’t give any me any sort of volume and it definitely doesn’t lengthen my lashes.
  • I have applied it with two coats and it like I didn’t apply any mascara at all, it just made my lashes a bit darker.
  • I also hate the nylon fibers in this formula it seems to be flaking off and it gets stuck in my eye.

Z1

Will I ever buy this product? I am sorry but definitely not, it just didn’t do it for me.

Do I recommend this product? I don’t, but I do recommend you try some of their other mascaras from NYX because I’m sure they do a better job.

NYX – Matte Lipstick – Indie Flick

Hey guys,

Since NYX opened in Malta, I have been trying quite a couple of products from this brand and another product I’ve been loving is their Matte lipsticks. One of them in particular is this lovely coral lipstick called Indie Flick, my lipstick collection was craving for a nice orange-red colour. They are also¬†¬†ridiculously affordable which If i’m not mistaken retail for only ‚ā¨9,¬†and have a really lovely selection of shades to choose from.

l2

It has a lovely texture and pigmentation, not too dry and not too creamy which is quite uncommon for a matte lipstick and it doesn’t dry out my lips either. This lipstick stays on for a long time and doesn’t smudge easily.¬†Usually with matte lipsticks one must be careful and watch their lips throughout the day so they don’t over-dry, crease, feather, smudge, etc. But with this lipstick, I don’t quite find myself running into those problems.

L1

My only complaint about the lipstick itself, is that after about seven or so hours it does tend to flake just a bit and dry out your lips if you don’t apply a balm at least a couple of times during wear. Then again, that could be expected with a lot of matte lipsticks. I would recommend moisturizing your lips prior to application, following up with a good lip liner, then finally applying the lipstick with a brush, about three to five coats, blotting in between save for the last coat. This has been my process for the longest time, and my lipstick stays like you wouldn’t believe.

The other thing that bothered me was the packaging. It looks good, but it can be twisted while closed, which could make the lipstick smear on the inside of the cap (basically what actually happened to me). But I guess you just have to be careful.

Will I ever buy this product again? I will definitely buy this lipstick again, and if not in the same colour in some other gorgeous colour from the matte range.

Do I recommend it? I do highly recommend it, just be careful not to twist it while closed, like I did. Go to the NYX store at Sliema right now ūüôā

Revlon- Grow Luscious Plumping Mascara

Hey guys,

Before I start with my next review, you will notice a slight change in the way I will review products further on. I will be adding rating stars at the end of the review, and ask two main questions, if I will ever buy the product again? and if I do recommend it for you guys? This will give you an overall idea of what I think about the products. ūüôā

2

Today I will review the mascara which I have been using for about a month now. I bought the Grow luscious plumping by Revlon at a drug store and it retails for about ‚ā¨11 if i’m not mistaken, which is a good price for a drugstore brand. To be honest I am not really a big fan of this mascara however it’s not the worst either, it does give volume but it doesn’t lengthen my lashes. I do feel it makes lashes slightly heavy due to its dry formula, and because of it, the natural curl of the lashes is somewhat lost. So instead of the lashes to go upwards like they should they seem to remain at the same place.

3

1

I am using this mascara for everyday make-up, because it is quite inexpensive and it’s not so bad, but for the weekend I do prefer using other mascaras. I do like the brush, as it starts quite thick which I like but it get thinner at the end. The idea behind it, is probably created to cover those small lashes at the inner corner of our eyes, which we rarely are able to apply mascara on.

Will I ever buy this mascara again? Probably not because I was expecting more volume and length, and I didn’t get it.

Do I recommend it? Maybe, it is¬†inexpensive after all and not so bad, it¬†just¬†didn’t fulfill my expectations.¬†

Pupa Milano – Lasting Color Gel

Pupa Milano haven’t been doing nail polishes for a long time, but I think after the success they had with the past limited edition polished they decided to launch more than 50 shades.

Pupa2

The new colour range are called lasting color gel, claiming to be similar to the gels but you don’t have to use a UV-lamp for the nail polish to dry. It apparently has a gel-formula that makes the nail look super shiny and gloss but also give this nice finish that stay one for a long time. I have tried a normal polish by Pupa before from the 50’s theme and I was impressed by how long the polish stayed put on my nails for a whole week. This is by far as good as it claims as it stayed put for 5 whole days and after that I minor fallouts.

Pupa1 Pupa3

I am in love with this pastel colour, and it is a color that you can wear in any season. The color is very pigmented and it doesn’t take a long time to dry. I am also loving this new brush, it is wide and thin, and makes the application easier and faster.

I thought of showing you the available colors:

This product retails for 6euros which can be seen as pricey but being so long lasting I think it worth the money.¬†Pupa Milano products are found in most outlets and pharmacy’s around Malta, so head on and buy one.

Well that is all for now guys, keep posted for more and feel free to like or comment down below ūüôā
