Rihanna Inspired – Make Up Look

Hello Beauties,

The beauty of Make-Up is that you can always create something different. I find that Make-Up is pretty much like choosing what to wear, if you are feeling girly, you wear something girly. If you feel like being bold you wear the most crazy outfit you have, and make-up matches that feeling or look. So my muse last Saturday was Rihanna, I like how she wears little of no make-up on her eyes and then she wears the most bold lipstick colours, a dark red or even black as you will see in the image below.

Inspiration Look

Inspiration Look

Instructions:

As you can see in the image, the eyes are very natural while the lips are in a bold black lipstick. I didn’t want to wear a black lipstick as I would probably shock some people here in Malta :P, even though I have a similar shade of lipstick in reality. Instead I wore  very dark Purple colour by ArtDeco.

Then for the eyes, I kept it as natural as possible yet I went for a very similar bronzy shade to as what Riri is wearing. Please note that me and Rihanna have a very different skin colour so the shadow will definitely look different on me. After applying the eyeshadow I made sure to apply a very thin liner.

Something I like about her Make-Up is that she does little or no liner and then she tops it up with mascara, and her eyes look simply flawless and the lashes bigger than ever, when in reality they probably aren’t as big. When you apply a thick liner there is a big chance that you lashes wont be as visible or as long as they probably are. I honestly doubt if she had any fake lashes on in this look, if so they are probably a few individual ones.

Smoking Yellow – Make-Up Look

Spring is not doubt with us and after Easter I was in the mood to lay with bright colours. About two months ago when I was in Italy, I bought this beautiful dress by H&M, and on the front it has these beautiful florals with bright colored jams. So I let the dress inspire me to create this make up look.

 Instructions:

  • I always start the make up look by priming my eyes and then fill in my eyebrows with a mixture of brown and black eyeshadow. My eyebrows are a very dark brown colour, almost black so I like mixing both colours.
  • Then I applied a matte white colour on the brow bone and onto the inner corner of my eyes, this is a good trick which will make your eyes bigger and wider than they already are.
  • Following I applied a light brown on to the crease, this will serve as a base for the mixture of shadows, it will help with the blending of the colours. Then I apply a tiny amount of a very brown colour on the outer lid and blend it with the rest, still leaving an empty space on the middle of the lid.
  • Now it’s time to work our way on the middle lid, on which I applied a beautiful bright yellow shade and as usual, blend blend, blend :).
  • Finally I topped more shadow on the outer lid and onto the crease, this time in with a black colour. Finished off by applying eyeliner and mascara.
  • As for the cheeks I used a nice red toned blusher and I left the lips natural as possible using a baby pink neutral lipstick.

Random Make-Up Look – Spring Plum

Hello Beautiful people,

I truly missed doing make-up looks for you guys, however like any artist I need my muse. Like any other muse it is not available on speed dial, and it comes and goes when it wishes. Yet I still wear make-up when I go out and I thought of showing you random make-up looks I wear now and then. Even if they don’t stand out as much as some other looks I do, I  still think you might like them :D.

This Make-Up look I named it Spring Plum, being that now we are finally in spring time and I used a beautiful Plum shadow for the eyes. I mixed the plum colour with a darker brown shade on the crease, some black liner and Pink lipstick and Voila.

HAUL -Make Up Revolution – First Impressions :D

When Make-Up Revolution was buzzed about a while ago, and I gave in to temptation and bought myself some their products. There was quite a hype going on recently about their products, being that they are shockingly cheap and of great quality. When I browsed through their website, I really didn’t know what I should get. I have seen some reviews to which seemingly none had anything bad to say about them, which made my shopping list more difficult to narrow down.

I would also like the mention the shipping is pretty fast for Malta; I ordered the make-up on a Friday and received the next Tuesday here. Well done Make-up revolution :D.

Haul1

So here is the list of products I got:

Haul2

AMAZING LIPSTICK IN BLACK HEART |REBEL WITH CAUSE |DEPRAVED |LADY CRIME |FELONY | THE ONE| NUDE :

I simply love these lipsticks, they cost just £1 and are quite pigmented for such a ridiculous cheap price.  They come in a cute black packaging with the colour of the lipstick on top. I got quite a mixture of colours, from Nude to bright and shocking ones. The creamy lipsticks stay on for about 3 to 4hrs before having the need to reapply, while the matte ones always last longer.  As I’ve expected the packaging can be quite flimsy, however I am not bothered at all, it just £1 after all.

Haul3

EYE DUST PURE PIGMENTS IN LEVITY  | SHAMEFUL|  FROLIC| HYSTERIA | ANTIC | STARLESS

I had a photo-shoot where I needed to use some pigments and I was surprised to find a whole range of them. They are pretty small, you have about 1.5g but they cost only £1. Yet they are super pigmented and look divine once swatched. I do intend to buy more of them eventually.

Haul4

COLOUR CHAOS EYESHADOW PALETTE:

Being that bright and shocking colours are not usually found in a palette, I was craving for some colour chaos. I’m in love with this palette, not only does it contain some beautiful bright and bold shadows, but all of them look the same on the skin as it doesn in the palette. I love the sleek black packaging which is surprisingly very sturdy and does not look like a £6 palette would usually have.

Haul5

BLUSH & CONTOUR PALETTE IN HOT SPICE  AND SUGAR AND SPICE:

These palettes are a must have, they are very pigmented, little goes a long way and you have every thing you need to highlight and contour your cheek bones. Each palette contains two highlighers, a couple of medium shades and darker bronzing shades. The Hot spice palette is more on the peachy side, while the Sugar and Spic is more on the pink and red tones. The packaging is sleep as the Eyeshadow palettes and they only cost £6 each. Simply amazing.

Haul6

ULTRA FACE BASE PRIMER:

This primer remind me of the Make Up Academy primer, it’s silicone based and it helps with the application of the foundation. I think it’s a pretty decent primer to use for everyday. I don’t think it lasts for 24hrs, it was to ambitious for Make up Revolution to say such a thing.

THE ONE FOUNDATION:

This was a bit of disappointment, I mean you cannot expect much for  £4 foundation but it ridiculously small and it comes in a liquid form which feels more like oily water than a foundation. Not to mentions that the packaging is like a very bad dupe for MAC face and body foundation. I hope they come up with a better foundation, it doesn’t have to be £4 , £6  would be just fine and hopefully with a good medium coverage this time

Haul7

PRO HYGIENE ANTIBACTERIAL BRUSH CLEANER:

This is my absolute favorite brush cleaner so far , it contains a generous 200ml and it costs only £5. I use it to give a nice clean to my powder brushes and it does the job very well. The only misfortune is that it arrived with a broken cap, other than that I simply cannot complain.

LIQUID EYELINER IN WATERPROOF AND ULTRA BLACK:

The eyeliners are my fav of all the products, this might sound crazy but I have been on the lookout for a good eyeliner for a while  which is not The NYX curve liner. Even though I love my NYX liner, it’s not so cheap and it lasts me for about a month or so, being that I use it a lot on myself and clients. So I was in need of a cheaper and good option, and I finally did both the liquid and pen are amazing, they last for a long time and they only vost £1.50.

BRONZER – BRONZED:

This is a lovely dark bronzer, applies heavinly and it is very pigmented, so don’t be hero and brush a lot of product unless you want to look like a Oomp Loompa :D.

So is the whole lot, Phew that was tiring 😛 , I do have another haul from Make-Up revolution which I should probably start preparing for you guys. I got some really great products, which I highly recommend except the foundation. Let me know what you think about  Make Up Revolution, especially if you tried them yourself. I love reading your comments.

XOXO

Gluten Free Make-up

Hello guys,

This post is slightly different from anything iv’e ever done but I think it is very important for anyone to know, especially make-up artists and anyone that is gluten intolerant. Recently I talked to an old friend of mine from school, and as we talked about how things have been with us for the past 2 years, I found out that she is Gluten intolerant. There are plenty of people which are gluten intolerant, and it’s a pretty normal thing, however in order to live a healthy life they have to avoid any food which contains gluten, like bread, pasta and much more.

Being that this type of disease it revolved around the food it is eaten, little did I know that they also have to be careful what type of make-up to use. Some people report not getting 100% relief just by going gluten-free in their diet and it is possible to ingest gluten from some of the cosmetic products we uchcse. Luckily there are cosmetics companies who make quality gluten free cosmetics and are aware of the risks of gluten.

Check out some of the cosmetics which are suitable for everyone including gluten intolorent:

1. ECCO BELLA

Ecco bella is an american make-up company that have a range of gluten-free makeup, skin care, hair care and fragrances. Apart from that they have a variety of vegan product and well as cruelty-free, non-comoedogenic and paraben-free products. These are available in Taiwan, Denmark and Canada, however they also do international shipping on their on website, so do check out.

2. Bare Minerals

I have heard of bare mineral about a year ago and I have always wanted to try them out. Knowing that their product are gluten-free gives me an extra reason to do so. However they have a disclaimer on their website stating that they cannot promise that each ingredient in their products was processed in a gluten-free environment. Unfortunately they do not ship to Malta on their own website , but there are available from the UK website Chemist Direct.

3 Afterglow Cosmetics

Afterglow is the first certified gluten-free makeup line by the Gluten-Free Certification Organization. They have tons of gluten-free beauty products on their website however I am not sure if it is available for shipping in Malta but it definitely available in Canada, for more info check out their website here. Some of their known favorites include organic blush, lip gloss and mascara.

 4. Zuxu Luxe

Zuxu Luxe is another gluten-free makeup company that specialized in creating luxury cosmetics. It is said that the collection were inspired by the European spas tradition, all of products are vegan, cruelty-free, gluten-free, corn-free and their ingredients are all natural.  Also the packaging is eco friendly. All of the ingredients are natural, such as spring water, herbs and vitamins as well as rare and exotic essential oils with sophisticated, fresh colors designed for women in the know. Just like at the European spa, ZuZu Luxe will make your face look healthy and refreshed. They don’t have their own website but they are available trough various sites one of which is called The Nature of Beauty, check it out.

6. Joelle Cosmetics

Joelle Cosmetics, which is also known as My Mineral Glitters, are also celiac friendly and have the largest gluten-free makeup and skin care solutions store! I have browes their online store and they have tons of option and not only make-up, they even have skin care, hair care and even products for the baby.  Not sure if they do ship to Malta because their website is not so clear but you can try to contact them and hopefully they will. Check their website here.

7. Monave Mineral Make-up

Monave makes gluten-free, cruelty-free, 95% vegan and organic makeup that is made of only the highest quality mineral makeup. Choose from a variety of gluten-free lipsticks, concealers, eye shadows and skin care products. Monave prides themselves on creating superior cosmetics that suit women of all ages, complexions and lifestyles! You can find these available on their website, check it out here.

8.Lily Lolo

Lily Lolo is another British brand which offer a great range of high quality mineral make up that is also Gluten free.  They are also free from any parabens, synthetic perfumes or dyes and also BUAV approved. Whether your skin is dry, oily or anywhere in-between, Lily Lolo makeup will give you a light, flawless and seamless finish without clogging or irritating. The awesome things is that they are available in the Uk and Malta, from their own website  and even from CrueltyfreeMalta, check them out :D.

9.LCN Nail Polish

LCN has a wide range of nail polishes that are also gluten free, vegan, and free from the big 5 toxic chemicals which are found in most polishes. The are also pretty reasonable in pricing being that an 8ml bottle the costs about €4.15 at the Melita Skin and beauty Clinic in Malta. They have a good 4 to 5 days wear before it chips and they have new colours every season. They are available in various outlets including Steph Luarie Melita skin and beauty clinic more info here.

I hope this post was helpful to anyone that is gluten intolerant and even make-up artist which do encounter clients that are celiac. Would appreciate a thumbs up on this post and even on my facebook page 🙂

Urban Decay – Naked 3 – Eye-shadow palette

N1

I am really excited to finally start reviewing this so well known palette by Urban Decay, which all make-up geeks and beauty gurus have and should have. I probably should warn you this will be a pretty long review, but it will definitely help you visualize and know more about the product, especially if you intent to purchase.  As I was cruising in London at the House of Fraser stores last year, I came by the Urban Decay section and of course I had to buy the Naked palette. At first I was unsure if to buy the original Naked or Naked 2 palette, being that the 3 wasn’t out yet. The colours of the Naked 2 palette really appealed to me more than the original Naked palette, even-though they are quite similar.

N2

I have to admit that the Naked 2 is pretty much a phenomenal value, it consist of 12 eyeshadows, a lovely two sides brush and a small lip gloss. It is packaged in a bronzed metal tin that can be opened and closed very easily, which is a great way of protecting the shadows. I haven’t had any problem with the opening or ripping of the packaging and it does feel pretty secure. The brush is pretty nice to, the bristles are very soft and great for application. I do tend to forget that I have it, which reminds that I should probably place it next to my other brushes.

Now lets talk about the colours:

N3

Foxy is like matte yellowed beige colour, it is on the sheer side and a bit powedery. This colour is barely visable in my forearm however it can work for highlighting the brow on light complexions.

Half baked is a beautiful coppery-golden brown shimmery colour, it has a good color payoff and a smooth texture.

Booty call is a white-beige shimmery colour, it has a good colour payoff and i love using it for the brows or as a base.

Chopper is a  shimmery coppery-orange colour. This shade has a pretty good colour payoff however the sparkle is prone to fall out.

Tease is a dirty mauve-brown colour with a matte finish. I really like the shade as I have nothing which looks anything like it, however the pay off is a little bit disappointing being that the texture is a bit dry and stiff. You really have to jab at it with the bristles of your brush to loosen enough product to apply it.

Snakebite is a a dark bronze with a dirty golden shimmer-sheer. I love using this color for contouring, as it isn’t too dark but neither light.  The texture is dense and buttery and an excellent color payoff.

Suspect is a champagne-bronze colour with a metallic sheen. It has a good colour payoff eventhough it felt a bit powdery.

Pistol is dark grey- brown colour with a shimmer sheer. The texture of the pistol is soft and smooth and it has a good payoff.

Verve is a pale silver grey colour with a pink tinge.

YDK is a warm , coppery medium brown with a frosted finish. I love its smooth texture and the pigmentation is pretty good.

Busted is a dark burgundy-tinted brown colour with golden undertones. The finish is very soft and frosted. The colour payoff is very good and the texture is very smooth though a little less dense.

Blackout is a really intense, matte deep dark black colour. The pigmentation is great and it goes on very black.

Naked lip-gloss is a sheer neutral brownish pink colour. The gloss is not that sticky and has a lovely mint scent

N5

Pros:

  • Great packaging, its sleep, sturdy and very secure
  • It is a really wonderful and well-rounded palette, with a good range of light to dark colour in a variet of finishes.
  • The majority of the shades are very pigmented, easy to apply, and blend.
  • The brush is very soft and lovely to work with
  • It is good value for money
  • Great for travelling

Cons:

  • Some of the colours aren’t as pigmented as most of the other colours
  • It is a bit pricey for anyone that doesn’t have such a budge, however I do think it worth every penny. I do

N4

Will I ever buy this product again? Definitely, I find it very handy for natural make-up looks and for travelling.

Do I recommend it? For sure, the palette has some good range of colours and the pay off is impeccable. If however this palette is out of your budget I do suggest you try the MUA Undressed palette, the colours are very similar and it is way cheaper. I do however suggest you invest in this beauty, as it has defiantly a lot more product and better quality, than the Undress me palette.

Rating:

let me know what you thing about the gorgeous palette, would love to read your opinion by commenting down below, thank you for stopping by 🙂
