Nail Care

Hey guys,

So recently I read a post on the daily mail how gels and acrylics can be harming your nails constantly, which is true. They might look pretty on the surface, but underneath your nails are probably suffering.  My nails were a mess when I removed my acrylics, they were chipping all the time and they had become very sensitive. My nails were so thin, I could almost feel the skin underneath.  Then I started taking care of nails, once I removed the acrylics and did a lot of treatment and stopped biting them. I was always a nail biter so gels and acrylics were my only remedy for me to stop biting them, but all i was doing is harming them even more.

N1

After a lot of treatment my nails have gotten way better, they still need a lot of help and more treatment, but I am very happy with them right now. I never seen my natural nails this long and looking so healthy, so the treatment really payed off.

Tips to get healthier stronger nails:

  • If you are a nail biter, Stop biting your nails, if i did it, so can you.
  • My nails are way healthier thanks to the O.P.I nail envy, it is really a miracle worker. I apply several coats throughout the week.
  • Do not result to gels or acrylics, is it such a waste of money. Nowadays there are very good nail polishes or even gelish that last for a whole week, and not do any harm to the nails. If you have strong and hard nails, go ahead but still it will damage your nails on the long run. Or else get them done one in while
  • I do highly suggest you stop wear nail polish from time to time if you have thin nails, let them breathe for a while. I love wearing nail polishes but then I stop wearing any, for a week or two and give them a nice Nail Envy coat.
  • Make sure to give them a nice filing and buffing, at least once a week or 2 and use cuticle oil if u have.

If you follow these steps and be extremly patient you will have great results in about 2 or 3 weeks. It took me a while to see the results, but it was all worth it.

I hope this was of any help, if you have any further questions, comment down below 🙂

Lorde – Royals – Make-up look

Hey guys,

Here I am again, with a new Make-up look for you guys :). Recently I have been obsessing over the song “Royals” by Lorde, and of course I couldn’t help but notice the simple yet original make-up look she is wearing on her music video. The overall make-up look is very simple, however the eye-shadow/ liner is quite unique. There’s something about it that is really edgy yet basic, which also reflects this cut-crease winged liner.

L2

Eyes:

  • This looks is very basic, it all about application. I by using a primer and then used a matte white shadow under the brows and into the inner corner of the lid and I applied a beige colored shadow on the mid lid.
  • Then I started applying the winged eyeliner upward and onto the crease. The shape reminds me of a cat’s ears.
  • Finally I used a black eye-shadow and applied it on the liner and blended it out.
  • Last but not least I applied a dark black mascara.

L4

Porducts:

  • Urban decay Potion primer Eden
  • Make up store white michroshadow
  • Urban decay Naked 2 palette – bootycall and blackout
  • NYX the curve eyeliner
  • Benefit – The’re real mascara

L1

Cheeks:

  • NARS – Laguna bronzer and Deep Throat blusher

Lips:

  • Her lips are in a nude colour which is why I used the MAC creme cup lipstick

1 year blog Anniversary :D

Hello guys,

So it has been officially a year that I have been blogging on my old blog Make-up by Sarah-Jane and this blog altogether. It has been such an amazing journey, this blog that really helped me in a lot of ways and it has made me experience a lot of new things and enhance my artistic capabilities.

When I started this blog, I did it to find that feminine side of myself again which I had lost when I was studying to get my degree. I was spending a lot of days at home studying barely going out and no time to get pampered and take care of myself. So I started blogging about the things I loved and doing make-up looks as I used to do before my college days and it was a lot of fun. As people were very interested in my opinion of what products I used and my make-up artistry application, I started to love this even more. The beautiful thing about cosmetics is that they can make you feel, your worth a 100bucks, confident and pretty.

I love doing make-up not only on myself but also on others, because I can make everyone feel pretty and confident with some simple make-up tricks. Everyone should always feel beautiful, everyone should treat themselves as a prince or princess, as as we do that we feel better about ourselves and we can accomplish anything we want in our lives.

I will host a giveaway soon, but I need to do a little bit of shopping first :). My giveaway will contain some of the products I truly cannot live without, so keep posted and thank you for your support

XOXO

Morticia meets Corpse Bride – Halloween Make-up Look

Hey guys,

So I thought I’ll show you one last Halloween look I did on my sister. She originally was going for a Morticia Addams look but she really liked my artistic devil look, so she opted for something more artistic. I called this look Morticia meets Corpse Bride because being that my sister has some really big eyes, the way I defined them through make-up reminded me of the corpse bride.

I am not going to explain in detail how I did this look because it will take me a long time. But the images can really help you understand what colours I used and how I did it.

2

Face Base:

The most important thing for a look like this is to make the face look as pale looking as possible, I used some very light foundation and concealers and also tried to hide the eyebrows so that I can draw on them.

1

Eyes:

For the eyes I went for a dramatic red smokey eyes very similar to my devil look which you can view here. I used a lot of red on the lid and even under the eyes, it gives the impression that the person is either sick or dead. It is important to contour with some dark black color to give the eyes further depth. On one side of the face I drew a spider web using eyeliner. Unfortunately the result didn’t come as great as I wanted it to be because they liner wasn’t great but it was satisfactory.

Cheeks

For the cheeks I contoured the face with a very dark bronzer, the darker it is the lighter it makes the rest of the face look. I also used the mac breezy which is a reddish blusher.4

Lips

For the lips I used a mixture of matte and shimmery red and then I lined the lips with black eye-shadow.

Well I hope you like this make-up look , it was quite fun for me to do. I love doing artistic make-up, I feel like a true artist :). If you love this look please comment down below and feel free to share,

Make up Trends this Spring

Hey guys,

As someone which loves make-up a lot, it is important to keep myself updated with the new styles and trends every season.  Spring is finally here and I did my research on what is in Vogue right now and what was seen on the runway.

Red Signals

At first, it seemed like spring would be a season of pale lips. At Prada, makeup queen Pat McGrath went for a matte crimson, outlining the outermost part of lips in red pencil that accentuated the shape of the mouth (tip: this makes lips look bigger and fuller). All told, the season’s rouges ranged from pinky-red at Missoni and Oscar de la Renta to the classic power red at Jean Paul Gaultier to the dark and dramatic black cherry at Jonathan Saunders, proving the enduring appeal of being in the red. Not much is going on with the eyes as it is very natural to extenuate the lips.

Eyeliner In Full Effect

Ever since the cat-eye trend hit last year, eyeliner has become a newfound essential.  It’s a downtown look that went a bit uptown at Chanel where makeup artist Peter Philips created striking contrast with his jet black liner by swiping on a platinum shadow over the lids, giving us inspiration for how to dress up a few simple strokes for day to night

Lush Lashes

60’s are back from the inky, Twiggy-like fringe seen at Gaultier to the curled and combed up look at Gucci, it’s time to have fun with your lashes this season. For the beauty adventurous, look to the chic-clumpy variety at Véronique Leroy, and our favorite, the heavy lashes offset with white liner—and nails to match—at Moschino.

The Bold And Beautiful Brows

Strong brows proved their staying power again. At Etro, makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury went for a “fresh, clean” nineties-inspired look, which she created by filling in with M.A.C.’s Eye Brow pencils in Fling and Lingering. Meanwhile Estée Lauder Creative Makeup Director Tom Pecheux enhanced the arches of stunners like Arizona Muse at Anthony Vaccarello with the Estée Lauders’s Automatic Brow Pencil Duo in Soft Brown. A handy pro tip: brush brow hairs down to find your natural shape, then fill in sparse areas with a pencil, using short, feathery strokes to shape and even out the contours of your brows.

Seeing Blue And Green

A Mediterranean influence swept the shows, as makeup artists dabbed their eye makeup brushes in shades of turquoise, jade and vibrant aqua. Even though the references supposedly ranged from the psychedelic sixties at Moschino Cheap and Chic to bejeweled butterflies at Gucci, the look wasn’t too wild or extreme for the every day wearer. Try a thin streak of green eyeliner seen at Stella McCartney or Kenzo, a saturated smear of sapphire on the base of lids like at Versus, or a color-blocked etching of royal blue or teal a la Fendi. And for those moments of all-out glamour, place a few sparkles around your eyes like a Gucci model if you dare.

These are the trends this season from bright lips to heavy eyeliner, big brows, fake lashes and colorful eyes. What I noticed is in every look is mostly natural but then they transform each look with something bold like red lips or a bright eye colour.

That is all for now guys but keep posted as I will posted something interesting later on 🙂

xoxo
