Curling your hair with flat Iron

Hey guys,

How was your Christmas? I hope you had a good time and received a lot of lovely pressies. I bet you all looked fabulous and will look even more this NYE.  Recently I have been pretty obsessed with having lovely big curls,  they take me back in time and I feel like I’m living in the 50’s.  I found an easy way to curl your hair by using a normal flat iron on youtube and I want to show you how to do it yourselves.

Curling your hair with a flat iron

Step 1: Wash your hair and slightly dry most of it

1Step 2: Before drying your hair completely, apply some heat protection cream on the tip of your hair, were it basically needs the most.  I used the Tresemme,  Thermal Sensations blow dry potions.

Step 3: Dry completely your hair, and straighten it a little bit. It doesn’t have to be perfect, you will be curling it right after so don’t spend to much time on it.

Step 4: Grab a 1 inch piece of hair and start curling it by twisting the iron inwards and pulling it downwards slowly. I do suggest you watch the video for further help. The first time I tried this technique they curls didn’t stay on for long because I didn’t give it enough heat. So make sure you pull the iron downwards slowly, but not too slow that you end up having your hair straightened rather than curled.

Step 5: Basically do the same technique for the rest of your hair, and then retouch where you think is needed. Then I like to slightly brush the curls so they look more natural and with more volume.

There are many other ways to curl your air, from the traditional rollers, to the most conventional technology curling iron.  Always make sure to use heat protection before curling your hair if your using a a straightener or curling iron.

I hope you enjoyed my short tutorial, if you need further help feel free to comment down below, a few days left to enter my Giveaway 😀

Hair Pampering – Dean Gera Hair Care

This week, I was invited to have my hair treated and straightened at the new hair Salon by Dean Gera. I couldn’t possibly pass this by, so I eagerly went to get my hair pampered. Believe me my hair was craving for some pampering, as it was quite dull and it had no shape at all. I am very low maintenance during the week, but then I love to look great during weekend.

On that day I had this massive headache but thankfully I finished early from work, so I went straight to the Point shopping complex at Sliema for my hair appointment.  I was greeted by an old school friend of mine which currently works there as a hairdresser and after a few minutes I was in heaven under the hands of their professional hairdresser (which unfortunately I forgot the name of 🙁 ). The best thing of getting your hair professionally done apart from having gorgeous hair is the washing part. As she treated my hair to some of their Swarksoph products, she massaged my head for a few minutes and my headache just vanished.

Then I got treated to a nice blowdry and my hair  seriously never looked better. Being that my sister was a hairdresser, I learned a few tricks along the way and I know when a blowdry is done right or wrong, because it’s starts losing it’s shape and I have to say she did a great job. My hair still looked great the next day and it still smelled like I just came out of the Salon. I would seriously grab a piece of my hair and smell it.

I have to say the service was excellent , the salon is very chic and elegant, but once you sit on their fabulous comfy sofa/chairs you will feel like your at home. I highly recommend it, especially if your going for shopping spree and have no time to go to a hairdresser, now you have everything under one roof at the Point -2 level next to the Lovely Make Up Store in Sliema.

Event : Phillip Kingsley London Launch in Malta

This week I was invited to this Exclusive Launch of the Phillip Kingley London hair care products. Being that they haven’t been selling in Malta before now, I didn’t know much about this brand, but I did hear about it on various Magazines and beauty blogs. It is widely known in the UK and in America, not only by hairdressers but even by celebrities like Kate Winslet, John Travolta, Lucy Liu and and much more.

We had a quick presentation of the products for which we were explained the study being these products and what are the products for. It was really interesting to see how much study there is behind each product. Their particular aim is not only to have healthy hair but also to have a healthy scalp. Even-though the products are more targeted to hairstylist to use in their Salon but I think they can be great for anyone at home that want to pamper their hair with some quality product.

Their products have won great awards by well know magazines like , Harper’s Bazaaar, GQ, and In style magazine for being the best hair treatments out there. I have to admit their Elastisizer has truly caught my eye, as it is highly reviewed.

After the presentation, she demonstrated how the products should be applied and even how to massage the clients during the treatment.  FWI All of us beauty bloggers were really jealous of the model, as we definitely wanted a massage ourselves :D. Then we were given some nice sample of the Phillip Kingley’s shampoo and conditioner, which I might add, they smell lovely.

Then we ended the event with some nibbles and a drink with my other fellow bloggers. I truly enjoyed the event and it is truly nice to see new brands make it to our lovely small Island.

P.S At moment the Phillip Kingley products aren’t available in Malta yet as they are waiting on stock, however once they arrive you will be the first to know 🙂 Keep posted as I have some great events coming up and Halloween make up looks.

OPI Nail Envy Review

Hello lovely people,

I have been using the OPI nail envy hardener for over a month and I really wanted to tested it out before I give you an honest review about it. I have been a nail biter for most of my life but this yeah I kept to my beauty resolution and stopped biting my nails. I have also been doing gels on them last year so they were really damaged.

I have tried a couple of nail products but failed to impress me because my nails remained fairly thin and damaged. I was suggested to try the OPI nail envy by another beauty blogger   and went on an bought it along with the OPI top coat. When started applying it on my nails I noticed that my nails weren’t chipping anymore which was a great start. My nails were still a bit damanged but after a week or 2 my nails started to look far healthier and slowly getting harder.

It took a while, but I was seeing results finally, unlike some other cheaper hardeners I have bought from other brands. My nails are far healthier now but they still need some more time and nail envy to get better. I recently stopped applying because I wanted to experiment with different nail polish colours. But when I’ll feel to give them some rest will definitely apply the nail envy again.

Before and after:

I bought the nail envy and the top coat for £14 on ebay which is fairly cheap as they usually sell for about 10euros each as far as I know. You also have about 15ml which is a nice amount and the bottle lasts for a long time considering you put a layer on each day.

Even though my nails still need treatment, I definitely seen a huge improvement since purchasing nail envy. My nails where in the worst shape and now they are finally breathing. Will definitely keep you posted with further improvement.
